Attention All Small/Larger Companies - Need Advice On A Product For You!

Hey Warrior Forum!

I'm quite a new member here and I am enjoying all the great information I've come across... Its now time for me to post a thread and ask some serious questions! If you have a business yourself, your insight would be greatly appreciated! If you do not, still feel free to throw a comment at me!

So heres my idea:

My idea is to help smaller to larger companies grow their exposure online with an online video course by teaching in-depth SEO, authentic promotion strategies, and start generating leads!

There are however a few concepts why my idea stands out. (At least I think it will)

They do not have TIME to do any marketing (They're running a business):
This is why I plan to optimize and design my video course with quick yet effective actionable steps!

Small companies do not have a big budget to fund marketing:
Big price tags will look unattractive, yet I am planning to provide a tiered pricing offer that will look something a little like this:
Video course ~ 97$
Video course + E-book ~ 147$
Video course + E-book + 1Hr. consultation/overview on their business ~ 197$

Smaller businesses do not think about online marketing in terms of benefits:
Some businesses I have talked to do not seem to see the benefits of online marketing and SEO. This is something I will need to convey. I plan on doing this by:
~ Providing testimonials & real results
~ 30 days money back guarantee
~ Showing what online marketing has done for other businesses

So, thats the main idea of the course. Do you think this product will hold merit and be a success? Or do you think it is something that will not sell very well? As a business owner, is this something you would be interested in enough to buy? How valuable would this sort of product be to you and your businesses?

Any advice is appreciated, feel free to knock down my idea if it needs some criticism! Im always looking for ways to improve! Thanks

Broadly speaking, business owners do not want to learn how to do it.
They want to hire someone to do it.

I'd do some very serious market research before going any further on this idea.

That is very true... I can see the product being for smaller businesses then? Or a resource to give to the marketers they hire? I can think of lots of holes being poked in this already; I appreciate the response!

I have to agree with Lucasp a lot of small to medium sized business owners just do not have the time to learn all of this. Do I think you have a great idea that you can sell yes. There are plenty of similar programs that are already available. You just have to find a way to legitimize your offer and gain the trust of customers. Again, there are a ton of similar offers and that is not to knock yours at all. Quite the contrary actually as there is a lot of room in the IM niche to make good money. You could really target anyone new to building websites and SEO doesn't necessarily have to be small businesses or medium sized.

Or even like you said these companies do not have the time to do all of this. Offer a further upsell for $495 or $999 or whatever you think is the right price to have all of this done for you completely hands off for the business.

That seems like a very viable option to do the work for them! Offering an up-sell to do so. It would be no different than hiring a marketer anyways. At that point I'd be providing a service which I have no problem with at all. Yet, I do want to figure out how to go about this idea information-product wise.

Great idea and input though! Very appreciated.

    I must echo Lucasp

They want to hire someone to do it.
In my experience, most small businesses are not interested in learning marketing, website building or how to do videos.

They are interested in getting more customers and making more money period. They are not interested in spending money or even getting a service unless they know they will get more customers and make more money..

Interesting concept, the main objection to overcome would be results, if you can demonstrate results you could turn your concept into something more. I have talked to a lot of business owners and a lot of them have been ripped off by these "fly by night" over hyped sales guys that charge big fees but often delivery nothing or next to nothing. I talked to one man who had spent $5000 on a website and SEO and ended up with no real world results to show for it. Its hard to get them to commit because they have been lied to and cheated and they told everyone they knew or would listen the story. ITs all about results if you can show them results you can do well.

That is very true, the industry has a very bad reputation when marketers don't deliver results. This would be a very hard market to convince and sell to as well.

Instead of developing this course for the small business owner, maybe let this be a product for a service provider. For someone who wants to be the marketer for these small businesses.

I think you've got it. But you need to think BIGGER! Meaning, you need to think about putting on Workshops -- to reach your target market!

When you do Workshops, you are LEVERAGING your TIME!

There's many ways that you can capitalize on this business model, which, in my opinion, is one of the BEST ways to achieve your goal in getting the message out --- especially to your target market!

P.S. I'm just a PM away if you would like to discuss this further for your personal growth!

Sorry to disagree but business owners don't have the time or inclination to sit through SEO videos or workshops... They would simply hire someone if they wanted the job done...

PS. I'm referring to real business owners in the real world not online wannabees ...

No worries. Thanks for chiming in, because now, hopefully my original post will make sense. Which was MY point exactly, though!

So, why would you want to put on a workshop?

Well, you fill it with jam-packed and incredible information for businesses that makes their heads spin. After all that spinning (there's no time to learn or do it themselves) therefore, businesses would rather HIRE you THAN to learn to do it themselves! Which was my point about Workshops and getting a flood of clients at once! It's about leveraging your time/resources!

Hope this was helpful/clarified my original post!
