Clickbank question about products with free trials

How does Clickbank pay affiliates on products with free trials? I know they have a long cookie time limit but some people delete cookies everyday. Is there anything else they do that helps make sure affiliates get their money?
I'm asking because I now have a 1 week free trail for my delayed auto-responder service at emailpiper.com which I wanted to put on Clickbank. If I put the site on Clickbank, how can I make sure that the original affiliate gets the commission he is owed?

ClickBank do not provide a free trial option

          Update

          Note ClickBank's reply further down.

Free trials are a beta feature (they are not mentioned at ClickBank's site where the minimum initial price is $1.00)

Clickbank is playing around with free trials but for now the best you can do is play with the words and offer a free trial but charge a $1 processing fee. This locks the affiliate in for the sale and once the trial ends your customer is automatically charged the remainder of the full priced product.

Then the affiliate collected his/her commission on the sale!

Be sure to watch your refund and chargeback rates though on "free" trials since they can get pretty high... Costing you more in chargeback fees than you make.

If I have to charge a dollar should I make the free trial 1 month instead of 1 week? I'm thinking that might get more people to take the trial, but I'm not sure if affiliates will like waiting a month for their commission.

I've tested, 5, 7 & 30 days and they all converted the same. I stayed with 5 days 'cuz who wants to wait to get paid?

Another question that should be asked at clickbank support and not here

Another one liner that doesn't ad value to WF. Apparently you missed what happen in this thread when I first posted this question.

What you said could easily be said in one form or another to 90% post on WF. The reason I ask here is because I wanted to hear people's opinions on the subject and any personal experience they had with it. Like the valuable info I got from Vikram73 which I wouldn't have received if I had just used CB support.

Not only was there helpful info from other warriors but, as you can see, Clickbank has even answered my question here which helps informs other warriors that they do allow free trials, including the poster who said "Clickbank doesn't do free trials".

I could understand you posting what you said if no one answered my question and you were suggesting a place I could get an answer from. However, you posted after people gave answers and even Clickbank answered my question here. (?)

In the future just flag the posts you think might not belong and let the mods decide if the question is appropriate here or not and/or just move on to another question that you can answer.

  • To answer the original question,I have never missed out on a commission before because once somebody signs up through myaffiliate link and has already taken the $1 processing fee, it is already connected to my aff link.

    Hi webmaster2015,

A few points. First, we do offer free trials. This is a beta feature that must be enabled for your account. Contact our support team to have them open it to you. Secondly, at the time of purchase, we collect the payment details for the consumer and will charge that consumer on the first billing event after the free trial expires. We do charge you a $0.50 fee as a vendor for each acquired customer since we authorize and validate their payment ability/details. This will show up within your account as a charge.

For the affiliate, once the transaction is completed for the free trial, we have a record of that affiliate account that is not dependent on the consumer's browser or cookies. All subscription renewals for the product will pay the set commission amount to the affiliate. Typically, affiliates will see a $0.00 entry in their transaction screen when a free trial is sold and then see commissions once the payments begin.

    I hope this helps.
    The ClickBank Team
