Youtube question about reusing video with creative commons license

More frequently I try to remix a youtube video (highly likely the video was uploaded by the original uploader) when they've marked that video with a creative commons license. Once in the youtube video editor page, it says on top:

"video is not usable due to a copyright claim". So, it won't let me edit the video to upload to my youtube account. Can I download the video manually and upload it through the main youtube upload function, and give credit to the original uploader mentioning they licensed it under a creative commons license (with a link to the license page), and youtube would be fine with that?

No. If there is a copyright claim, it would still apply to you no matter how you chose to edit the video.

If YouTube has it marked as copyright, they would most likely detect its use if you edited and uploaded but I don't know.

The original copyright holder would be able to make a claim against you though.
