Why should I get into marketing?

You're on the right track and if you're going to dedicate that much time, why not consider creating your won products while you get the ball rolling with your website.

Start with a vision of what you want your website to be and who it would appeal to. Devise a plan and put it into motion. For example, your plan might be writing 15 excellent articles a month, posting on Facebook, Twitter, advertising on Bing and Facebook ads to collect email optins, etc.

The whole idea would be to build a community and repeat visitors. If you provide value on a consistent basis, your readers will come back and your website will begin flooding with traffic within a year's time. Slow and steady!

You can always join affiliate programs as you go and offer only products you endorse.

Just keep in mind that nothing is as easy as promoted everywhere on the Internet. Generating a ton of traffic, especially being a newbie to marketing, will require a lot of time and effort. As long as you read tutorials on SEO and the type of marketing that you are interested in, then you're going to be okay. But don't expect to make five figures in your first year, unless you spend a loot of time educating yourself and applying that knowledge.

It sounds like, though you're a beginner, you're methodology is in line with mine. In short: social networks. I generate traffic in numerous ways, but those play an important role for me, as many here will know. What I suggest you do is start there. Learn how to setup an affiliate site or squeeze page, learn how to monetize it, and learn how to grow your social platforms. A great place to start.

I would start by selling physical products and not marketing. Eventually get into marketing but start out by starting an eBay or Amazon store and make some good money that way. Then use your knowledge there and start marketing.

I can some it up in two words "FREEDOM BABY" *Said in the voice of Austin Powers. I will go a little bit more into this though on your game plan.

Your game plan is sound however just having those things will not bring you any success. It takes work. You know what after hours and hours and hours and hours and days and days and days you put into promoting your site and your social accounts you just might fail.Then what?

I have failed more times than I care to count. It is the ugly truth hidden from newbies. Yet my successes more then make up for it. I got to say do not be afraid to fail but never approach something like you will fail either.

What you have going for you is this. A. You are not depending on this for a full time income. B. It will be something you want to do. Rather this project is a BIG success or not does not matter you have already won. You are a winner. Yeah the website might not make you anything but you will have conviction in what you do. If you help one person than you would have won.

So go forth and spread your message and believe 100 percent that if you reach just one person it would be worth it.

I think the main reason anyone will get into marketing is freedom and flexibility. You are ultimately the one held responsible for your own success. You put the work in and you will get the results. That is a lot more appealing to some than a typical fixed income job, plus you can work whenever and from wherever you choose.

Hello, Matt. Welcome to the Warrior Forum. Getting into this business is totally worth it! While you might not be struggling financially now, that time may come to pass. When and if it does, you'll have something to fall back on. There have been a number of times when an unexpected payment from the internet has really saved my butt! Society tells you to go to college and get a degree in order to get a good job, so that you can live "the American dream." Needless to say, that's no longer true. I'm going off on a tangent -- back to you...

Anyway, the personal development niche is quite a profitable one. The fact that so many people are into blogging and affiliate marketing just means that the model works. Oh, once you get your blog and up running, you should also start building an e-mail list. This will act as a secondary stream of income for your blog (outside of getting traffic from the search engines).

This is absolutely worth getting into for a lot of the reasons others have mentioned before me, particularly freedom to work for yourself from wherever you want and whenever you want. From my experience in this business success comes from finding a successful blueprint/system to achieving the goals you have for your product or service and working that system faithfully. Blogging and social media is an effective method for attracting your target market and adding value to their lives. It can be extremely profitable when you get people to subscribe to your newsletter/lists and occasionally recommend products or services that you are an affiliate for, and that will add even more value to your list. Perhaps you can even create a product in your niche, and sell that to list as an additional revenue stream. All of which are extremely doable but first you need to educate yourself and find a successful and effective blueprint that you can model your business after.

Things you will need on your journey; You will need positive mental attitude. Seek to add value first before building wealth, Strong work ethic - a lot of people think making money online is push button easy. It is not; Adequate knowledge (Marketing, List building, Writing; Focus - There are tons of methods and systems and you can easily get distracted by other shiny objects. Resist the urge to try new methods until you have mastered one. Don't be a jack of all trades; Find a supportive community /mentor or coach - Don't go it alone. I've found this Internet marketing journey to be much harder when you do not have a like minded person(s) to help push, inspire and motivate you. Best of luck!

Your approach is right...you have a long term plan and then the short term steps to reach their. I would advise you to stay patient and "do not be o the fence anymore" but start with whatever you have right now. IM takes time and the sooner you start the sooner you will reach your goal.
To spread your words about healthy living etc, you need to have a large customer base. I would suggest you to start building your list. Take the service of an auto-responder company and start building your list immediately. It will not only help you in spreading your words but will also earn you a lot of money. Internet is a huge market and building passive income doing what you love is very much achievable. So do not wait any further and start right away.

Wow! These are some great responses and I feel pretty good about my approach to IM. I especially like the idea of starting simple and not being a "jack-of-all-trades" right off the bat. I think social media will be my focus, generating content, signing up with the right affiliate program, and learning how to build an e-mail list and other basic strategies to be successful. Meanwhile I'm simply going to try to learn the basics the best that I can and go from there. Not trying to reinvent the wheel, more looking for something that works. I look forward to many more discussions to come.

You already have a plan which is a start. Second you've already invested time into learning and making a plan. That should be enough of a reason.

Your time is valuable, youve already dedicated it to learnong so keep going or else its time wasted that you'll never get back. Might aswell make it worth while

You're looking for a reason to get into marketing? You should be looking for how to make it big, the reasons are too many to actually mention them all in one reply! You're on the right track though, it IS possible to make money with affiliate programs, and since you're willing to put in some hours of work everyday, then you're gonna do good!

After starting IM and getting some traffic, esp in a niche that you love, you'll know if its for you. When ppls comments / feedback tell you that you helped them, you'll be on fire.

Nobody should have to convince you why you should get into marketing. Marketing is a REAL business and takes real effort, you are either about it or you're not. Sitting on the fence will only make you not want to give it your full effort. If you a really serious about building a business online, get serious and find a niche that is profitable and that you enjoy being in. Otherwise you will most likely not be into it, and you will find yourself getting no where and quitting. My advice is to learn from somebody who is experienced and can show you step by step how to build a business. From there take daily consistent action and be prepared to fail many times before achieving your goals.

The best reasons for me are the thousands of people you could reach and the thousands you could make IF it is done right. This is not an overnight get rich scam at all and it does take time but I would rather work hard at it for a few years and build up something that I'm proud of, could take care of me of my family for a long time, and not have to worry about working till I'm 80 plus having to miss out on important things in life because of work
