Hello

which one is better to make money for a living ?
#affiliate #marketing #network

This completely depends on the type of person you are. Do you enjoy networking?

Both have the potential to earn big amounts of money and they have both been around long enough so that you can be sure that they will not just fizzle out any time soon.

It all comes down to which style of marketing you prefer.

This is exactly what I was going to say when I saw that hipman87 already said it here - lol.
But, yes, I tried both and I found out that I am more of an affiliate/direct marketer than a network marketer, so I must repeat: it depends on what type of person you are.

Network marketing is not something that you can do entirely online. As the name implies, you have to network with people in order o build trust and bring them on board your program. You make money from selling the product while building a team of people who sell the product and pass on part of their commissions to you through a system set up by the company you represent,
On the other hand, affiliate marketing requires you to only sell other people's product for a commission. If you decide to make your own products you can potentially make a lot of money by building a team of affiliates to sell the product for you and you pay them a commission.

Many of the current MLM's are 100% online, both with product sales and recruiting, making it possible to build your team and sell products online... personally I think the line between Affiliate Marketing and MLM is getting very, very thin... practically transparent at this point.

The differences being with MLM they normally charge a fee along with a monthly fee to become a Rep and you earn on more than just your personal sales or the sales of your personal referrals, as with most Affiliate programs.

I think that the market will shift to a hybrid model between affiliate sales and MLM, it should, imagine earning 12 levels deep in an affiliate program, no monthly or join fee, with solid personal sales commissions... imagine your favorite affiliate program, but getting paid on multiple levels of sales of affiliates below you.

Exactly, so many still think of Amway or Herbalife when they think MLM, there are so many hip, high tech, super affiliate friendly programs out there now.

I sat on the Leadership Counsel for a MLM and was a Corporate Trainer and Presenter, I will tell you some of our BEST team builders for that company were online affiliates, one in particular brought in 10's of thousands of reps, via online marketing and marketing to their lists, literally had HALF of the company reps in their downline.

The line is NOT getting thin...NOR is it transparent. These are completely different business models, and no matter how many times MLM companies try to blur the lines...it just doesn't cut it.

It's disgusting that so many MLM programs even go so far as to call what they're doing "affiliate marketing". It's NOT! It's NETWORK MARKETING...they do this purely to sell the dream. Not mentioning names, but rest assured, a lot of them are doing this. Some of it is them being genuinely clueless. Most of it is a devious charade.

Also, I've consulted several MLM companies at the CORPORATE level. Many of them have a poor understanding of their own system, let alone, internet marketing. Needless to say, they needed a lot of help.

I also do not recommend or endorse Network Marketing. But you're mistaken...Network Marketing and Affiliate Marketing are NOT the same...and will never be the same. They cannot be the same...not without one of them ceasing to be. And no, they cannot become a hybrid...nor would any successful Affiliate want them to.

Most of us affiliates chose affiliate marketing over MLM for exactly these differences. They're not the same and will never be the same.

With affiliate marketing you've typically got a vehicle driving the sales (unless you are doing PPC). That in itself creates income generation diversity. Plus your operation has value and can be sold whether it's fifty bucks or seven figures.

MLM is not a business. There are no tangible assets. Nothing to sell except perhaps your email list. Nothing to build off of.

I agree with you about affiliate marketing, however not on your view about MLM.

MLM is a business, you are an independent contractor, just like an affiliate and you also get paid commissions just like an affiliate, they are essentially the same business model, however most affiliate programs will only pay you on your personal sales or those of other affiliates you refer/recruit to be affiliates, where with MLM you are usually paid on multiple levels of sales of other reps you have referred and the reps they have referred.

Affiliate programs, usually have no qualifiers to earn commissions, you make a sale you earn, your team makes a sale, you earn and they normally do not have a fee associated with joining.

MLM programs, typically do have qualifiers to earn commissions and have a fee for joining the company as a rep.

As an MLM Rep your income is passive, after you have built your sales organization, this also means that when you will your MLM Business to your kids... they can't screw it up... unlike a brick and mortar business or affiliate business, which they may have no clue how to run... your MLM business is passive income, so as long as the MLM stays in business... their future income is secure. Also, as income and not a "tangible" asset, such as an estate, the inheritance is taxed as regular income as it is received moving forward and they will not pay inheritance tax on future income etc.

Really both an Affiliate or an MLM rep's business would operate in the same manner, the difference being how income is generated, primarily your personal sales as an affiliate or from the collective sales of your organization as an MLM Rep.

Personally, I like both models for sales, it all depends on your preference and also the particular program's structure for compensation.

I think you need to define what you are saying more..

An affiliate marketer promoting other people's products has no tangible assets.

A product creator/owner who recruits affiliate marketers to promote his products does have a tangible asset.

Many affiliate marketers, especially new ones, never create a list, because they just drive traffic to product offers.

In both cases, the biggest asset you are building is your contacts, be it a list of people you talk to on the phone, in person, or via email.

Both forms of marketing can be highly successful for the right person. Many MLM/Network marketers build huge businesses today without using the phone or meeting people in person, until they meet at seminars.

In both marketing methods, you are going to continue marketing as long as you stay in business. Products/Companies will probably change in both cases.

Well, that's not even close to true. It's a marketing business. The tangible asset
is the revenue it produces. MLM businesses are sold quite frequently. I sold a very
profitable PrePaid Legal business many years ago to pursue another venture.

Affiliate marketing is the best as compared to network marketing. With affiliate marketing you send people to a product that will help people solve a specific problem, so you make money by helping people.

Network marketing is a pyramid scam and most of them benefit no one except those who're at the top of the pyramid so go with affiliate marketing.

    Most MLMs area Ponzi Scheme.

The first ones in are the big winners.

Everyone else is just a bunch of cheerleaders desperately trying to convince others to join under them so they can earn a few pennies off a sub par product

They are both in essence the same thing you are still marketing someone else's product...

      The difference is:

Internet Marketing - Marketing through the internet
Network Marketing - Marketing through a Network of people
Affiliate Marketing - Marketing as an affiliate

You need to concentrate more on learning how to market don't worry about the first word.

      This is what you do

      1. Build your own space online (blog) etc...
      2. Gather you a list of like minded people (list building)
      3. Give great content to your people or fans
      4. Find out what they want and their problems
      5. Then offer affiliate products

    Affiliate Marketing

    -No overhead
    -No membership fees
    -No quotas
-No rules to follow besides the FTC's rules - or any other country's trade rules.
-Various products that people want. Soft selling or no selling.
-No recruiting. Selling products and services.

    Network Marketing

-Monthly fees in order to promote products
-Monthly payments to purchase product for yourself
-Limited products that nobody wants. You have to hard sell.
-Company rules to follow AND the FTC's rules - or any other trade rules.
-Monthly quotas to meet...if you want bigger checks/bonuses.
-Restrictions on methods of promotion - tied with company rules
-Required recruiting. Selling dreams instead of products.

Forget the cute pipe dreams. Look at the differences and decide for yourself. The choice is obvious to most internet marketers. Most IMers came into IM because they didn't like the MLM "opportunities".

I think you are asking about some online method to earn money?

I guess simplest way to make money online is by promoting clickbank products using your email list or blog or both.

A simple way is to make a one page website where you can offer a cool free report to capture emails of visitors and then send them automated emails. In your emails give them some education, some more free stuff and recommend some good paid clickbank products.

Send targeted traffic to your one page website and keep growing your email list and earning money.

Network marketing is really better then affiliate marketing.

One of the things I like about network marketing online is that is allows you to earn residual income and an income from your team members. In many affiliate programs online, you are just able to earn a one time commission and that's it.

Plus, if you are going to just promote one time commission programs, you are going to do the vendor/product owner a big favor. Most of their customers will become their affiliates ( they give their customers the option to also become an affiliate when they get to the back office to download their product). You are not going to benefit from this at all.

With network marketing, you can get paid on multiple levels from your team.

I am involved with an affiliate program taht I can make money each month residually and also many per month.

So not sure I 100% agree with you, but to each and their own really.

Remember there is NOT one way to SKIN A CAT.

So in the end, you must pick something that is good for you and your personality it may take some time, but that is ok.

The main thing is that you are learning for the leaders, and taking consistant action. If you keep doing that, you will get some serious results.

At affiliate marketing you'll get direct commissions.
At MLMs you'll earn over time.
Important for MLMs is that it's an old and reputable website.
As there are some, which are created for a short time and then disappear before you begin to earn enough money.
When you decide to make money with a MLM you have to learn also how to market yourself or your website.
There are some differences, but you'll have to learn how to setup your website, make it popular, make a list, get traffic...
So you you can and should stand on at least 2 legs. Begin to move forward in your own tempo, but when you learn and take action you should see results.
    I recommend you both.

I would do both. Affiliate marketing for getting quick commissions. Network marketing for the long haul. Here's how I would divide and conquer:

Build a niche site around 1 product and pre-sell your affiliate program. If you link out make it to your own list or a bonus product you created for the affiliate program you are promoting. 1 hour a day.

Network marketing: Spend the rest of your time finding customers for the first two months. Give away incentives for buying through you.

Learn copywriting and post ads in your local and big city newspapers classified ads section. Use online tactics FB ads, PPC and free ad methods to find people interested in Your MLM. Get those folks on a separate list.

If you learn copywriting correctly you won't have to use sizzle cards or any of that time wasting marketing.

Find a mentor before building your team. If your direct sponsor sucks go upward. Never go out side your genealogy lists. You'll find the right mentor just have patience.

Aliexpress is a huge market with million of products! AliPlugin is a perfect tool for AliExpress affiliate- you may add different products easy. Affiliate marketing or Network marketing ?

They both have potential. But it depends on a lot of other factors as well. Either industry has both produced millionaires. If you think you found some really good program in one or another, that's the one to try. If you happen to be doing network marketing then be sure to add this service which you can look up: MLMRC . That will automate your downline building. But I don't think there's a better one necessarily. Affiliate marketing has one big advantage though. Which is if you set it up right you'd have more long term control over it. Because for example you'd own the website (your money site). That way if the affiliate business you're promoting goes under, then you switch it out with a different affiliate product in the same niche. In MLM it's much harder to do that. If the company goes under you might have lost all you worked so hard for. It's an unfortunate reality. But it's a rarity. So just go with your gutt instinct and focus on that which you think offers the fastest and biggest ROI. But again, you can do both at the same time.
