Customer reorder - Amazon affiliate question

Hopefully someone with experience as an Amazon affiliate can answer this.

Scenario:

1. Someone wants to buy vitamins or some other nutritional supplement.
2. They buy through your Amazon affiliate link.

After time goes by, they want to order more (you know - kind of like a refill.)

Do you get credit for that second sale? If the answer is no, is there some unique way to get credit for the second sale, the third, the fourth, etc?

Thanks!

Under most circumstances the original cookie lasts just 24 hours, so the only way you would get cred for subsequent sales would require the customer to once again access the Amazon site via your link, thus placing a new cookie.

There is no magic bullet to work around this.

Consider being very up front on your website about how you get paid from Amazon and that you would appreciate it if they bookmarked you site and came back to make future orders via your link.

Otherwise, that is the problem with many affiliate programs such as Amazon. You get paid 4% commission for one order and Amazon gets a lifetime customer with nothing paid for the next hundred orders.

Another option is to email re-purchase reminders every 30 days and to provide your affiliate link.

With supplements there is a lot of additional information buyers may be interested in that can provide another reason to stay in contact.

Another option is to research if an affiliate program is available with recurring commission payments and redirect buyers there and away from Amazon.
