Need some directions where to properly use my skills

Might be a bit strange thread, but I need some directions - I think I am on the wrong track or something.

I work (remotely) as software developer in non-IT company, building the tools for the specific company needs. My income is $1000 a month ($45 a day), and I'm not very happy with it (both income and the work specifics).

A bit of my experience:
  • I have more than 10 years proper experience repairing computers (software, virus/spam problem fixes, upgrades, etc).
  • More than 5 years of experience with Photoshop - editing photos (since I love photography)
  • 5 years of experience in coding php/html/css/js.
  • More than 3 years of experience with WordPress - built lots of websites with my own developed themes (basic), or Premium themes. Including on-site SEO optimization, plugin mods and customization, building social network pages, etc.
  • More than 3 years of experience with OpenCart - building stores for clients from the very start to the final working stores. Also, last year I started developing and selling inexpensive OpenCart extensions for admin workflow optimization.

But somehow my daily job takes about 90% of my time. What I want to do is to get out of my full-time job. And I only need about $45 - $50 a day, at least for some time. I could start a how-to tech blog (computers, WordPress etc.), but I'm worried that there are lots of them anyway, and my English is not native (although I believe it is OK). I might also miss other opportunities that could easily change my main income.

So my question - if you had the skills I have - what would you do for a living?

You need to go more niche. Seems like you got skills but very generic at this point.

Outside of your work, what are you the go-to guy for? What do people ask for your advice/help on? (e.g. home automation, leg wax, squirrel feed etc)

      Jack of all trades:
      How to setup a website
What plugins to use for (social, seo, performance, etc.)
      Which computer to choose
      Which computer parts to upgrade
Why computer is slow? Why it is overheating
How to do x-y-z on photoshop
      Which camera to buy

And so on and so on - I believe one of the main problems is that I'm trying to sit on too much chairs at the same time.

      The point is . . .

None of us have the skills, education, background, experience, training or the same desires that you have.

Making "$45-50 a day" as you stated should be no problem. That's one sale a day of your own product.

So follow the advice that's given all over this forum . . .

Do market research to identify a common need that you can fulfill. Put up a web site and take subscribers that will tell you specifically what they want. Create or license or become an affiliate for the solution to their problem.

Be active and aggressive in getting traffic to your offer.

Figure out other similar or relevant things you can sell on the back end.

Do that over and over and over again.

When you have particular questions about how to do something, consult the forum or use the search box.

Everything for your success is right here. Nothing is lacking.

      Go be profitable.
