Demographic Research for a Niche

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here. I am new to Internet Marketing and would like to conduct a demographic research to explore a niche. On browsing internet, I was able to shortlist a few tools like Quantcast and Alexa that I could use to conduct this research. However, I am unable to interpret the bar representations under Audience Demographics into meaningful data in Alexa. Could someone help me in this context?
I have attached a screenshot of the audience demographics I obtained for a site.

Considering "Income", below is the text I received on hovering each of the blue bar representations
$0-$30K - Relative to the general internet population, people with income less than $30,000 a year are over-represented at this site.
$30K - $60K - Relative to the general internet population, people with income from $30,000 to $60,000 a year are under-represented at this site.
$60K - $100K - Relative to the general internet population, people with income from $60,000 to $100,000 a year are under-represented at this site.
$100K+ - The audience for this site among people with income more than $100,000 a year is similar to the general internet population.

"There are a couple key points to reading the demographics data:
Make sure you read the hover text for the data point. It describes in words what the data actually means and also gives you the confidence of the data.
The size of the bar does not indicate the number or percentage of people in each group.
If the bar is very small, it means that that site is under-represented in that demographic. It does not mean that few people in that group visit the website.
If the bar is in the middle, it means that the representation of that specific group on the site is similar to that group's overall internet population."

    Hope that helps

Thank you for the reply. Actually, I was able to find this information on Alexa Support. But I am unable to understand what the terms under-represented and over-represented means in this context?
