Unique Page Views Question

How many page views does it typically take to make your IM website successful? I know this can vary from website to website.

I just discovered awstats, so I'm kind of looking for a motivational number. Sorry if this question is too broad or noobish. I'm aware that some sites can make a sale with their first unique visitor. I suppose the question is, about how many unique visitors a month did it take for you to see consistant sales?

For me personally it took about 1000 a month for me to start seeing a consistent income from one site. This will vary based on a lot of factors though including your niche, your traffic methods and your keywords.

i would agree with this. even with 500 a month still cant make a steady income. but with 1000 or higher i think it will make steady and consistent sale.

of course the easy answer is: it depends ... but of course that's not helpful. I'd like to share with you a simple way of measuring this. And it might be too simple, make no sense to you or is not applicable.

    Here you go:

    1. Assume your product price is P = $20
    2. Assume your conversion rate is CR = 1%
    3. With 1000 visitors your outcome is 1000 x 1% x $20 = $200
    4. Decide if $200 is worth the effort.

You have to fill in your own price and conversion rates. Hope that it more helpful ...

When you say IM website do you mean a site focused on Internet Marketing. Or a site built by an Internet marketer.

Huge difference. If you are focusing on Internet marketers. You should not expect to make anything.Internet marketers are not the best niche to go after.

If you mean a site built by an internet marketer, then there are tons of factors that could affect profitability.

Cody used a very low conversion rate in his formula. There are ways to increase conversions. How you increase conversions depends on the niche you are in. It also depends on how targeted the traffic you are getting is.

I think it depends on the site. Some sites need much more traffic to generate significant income and others need very little if they are quite targeted. I know that's not exactly what you're looking for but unfortunately that's the case.
