What does a NEWBIE WANT!

Simple question.

If you are a "newbie",or a "beginner" to this whole IM thingy, what do you really want?

What do you want to know?

Yes, I know, how to make money will be one of the first things I will be asked.

But be more specific.

What is it that you want to know how to do.

I'm just interested in knowing what will make you tick.

    Hi Ian,

I am a newbie although I have been reading on forums for quite a while now.

I have looked at man shiny things and have lost my way because of some of the offers that come that my way, I try not to spnd any money on these offers as I know a lot of them are more than likely bulls**t, but it still makes me fall of the track researching them.

Anyway - what do I now want.

I want to find a niche market that I can comfortably blog about.

I want to find the niche.
I want to find instructions on how to set up a blog and domain.
I want to know how to do SEO
I want to know how to eventually monetize the blog.

If I could find a start to finish journey that would - Yes - Spoon feed me the information then I would be a happy man.

While there are some things you can do to help you to uncover the niche you want to work in (i.e. look at the magazine section of Amazon to think of something - mags. are broken down into niches, make a list of your hobbies and go from there, or using the category section on Clickbank), the niche you go into is something you have to figure out for yourself. The first niche I went into was "learn Spanish" because I was a Spanish major in college, knew what it was like to be a student of the language, and had used a number of products.

The technical aspects of setting up a domain are really simple -- especially when you're using Wordpress. It's designed for the "non-techie." I was able to do it the first time I tried. The most challenging parts of the whole process are getting in the habit of blogging and producing content on a regular basis and getting traffic. Although, S.E.O. isn't as nearly challenging as people make it seem. You just have to do the work -- especially when you're going for free traffic.

I would also say that having a positive mind set is key to your success. The fact that you said you want to be spoon feed worries me. As an entrepreneur, you should be willing to ask questions and seek out answers -- even if that means making a mistake along the way. When something doesn't go your way, you have to be the kind of person that tries to figure out what you did wrong and fix it rather than give up. Finally, the trouble with being spoon feed in this business is that not everyone does things exactly the same way. You kind of mess around and figure out the way you like to do things.

      Good luck,
      Joey

I second you. Yes, newbies are searching for genuine ways to make money. But there is so much crap on the Internet that they get scammed.

Newbies would love step by step instructions videos. Right from starting a blog, writing the first blog post, genuine monetization methods. How to do on page and off page SEO. Free resources link, Promotion methods.

If you provide genuine and detailed information .They would surely sign up using your affiliate link. Just make sure that the product which you are promoting will make some money for them as well.

Sorry - perhaps spoonfeed was the wrong term.

More looking for a step by step guide.

I know Wordpress is supposed to be user friendly, but believe me, I spent fruitless hours just trying to find out how to add extra menu choices on a site I was working on - now I don't know if it was because of the theme I had chosen or because I was using the free version but whatever I was pulling my hair out.

Just so you know, I have a degree in C++ programming so I am not entirely stupid around computers.

I have since downloaded a manual on how to work Wordpress and I am trying to work and read my way through that in my spare time.

But being honest, even when you look up getting a host and domain there seem to be 100 different options and recommendations. Hostgator, GoDaddy, Dreamcast........all offering different things - it like trying to decide which broadband or mobile phone to choose!!

Like the idea of the magazine section in Amazon I will definitely have a look there.

I'm not a newbie, but if I were, first thing I'd like to know is how to make money. But that's' what everyone want s to know! So, next step would probably be finding out how to create a product that sells. Sales bring in most money, so finding out how to create something that people NEED is the key.

      Hi there

Slade556 is certainly right. You need to identify a hungry market first and find out what people want, not what they need.

You will find that people buy what they want as opposed to what they need.

Find that market whatever it may be and then and only then create a suitable product to market to them.
They also need to be easily marketed to. By that I mean, you need to get in front of them to market your product easily without high costs and hurdles.

There are so many ways of marketing online but you need to choose one and only one.
Whether its Youtube videos or adsense or affiliate marketing.
      PICK ONE!
and stick with it till you get a result.

Dont jump all over the place from idea to idea.

I did that for years and wasted about 5 years, doing sod all! and making no money either!

If you fulfil a need like that, the money will come.

      Ian

      Thank you Slammer81

Im sure theres hundreds out there that are still chasing the bright shiny object.

I know from my own experience that it takes a bit of determination to shut out the background noise and stop floating from offer to offer looking for an easy fix.

      Cheers

Also not a newbie. But, if I were say, creating a guide for newbies.. I would follow the Keep It Simple, Stupid method.

    1. Introduce the different, proven, scaleable ways to make money online.
    2. Give the pros and cons of each
    3. Create one guide for the do-it-yourselfers and another for those who can/want to invest money
3a. Partner with and provide trusted outsourcing providers to build the business
    4. Assist with niche selection
    5. Assist with web design/programming
    6. Assist with traffic generation

The ultimate goal would be to get people online and profitable quickly, with a method that is scaleable. It is much easier to stay interested when you're turning a profit and can reinvest in your business. That would minimize the shiny object syndrome.

    Here's what I learned after 6 years

    1) Internet is Just a medium. A medium itself won't bring
you any money. It's all what you do with it.

    2) Choose a hungry market. That is a group of
people ready to spend money and can be easily
    reached online.

It's always better to choose a niche you're personally
    interested
    . That makes everything enjoyable.

    3) Provide useful content and build trust so that selling
    becomes easy.

    4) Never work like an Island. Ask for help. Use other people's talent.
    Outsource enough.

    5) Be the manager of your business.

    6) Choose a business model suitable to your
current level of knowledge and experience
    and
    stick to it.

    7) Be positive

Newbies want you to be there for them if they need help so a newbie would be thrilled with a product that actually makes money and has easy detailed instructions of every step and a way to get help if needed. i did this when i first started. The help part could be solved with a detailed faq and a forum. My Humble opinion from experience

Is somebody teaching people to go on the warrior forum and ask this question?

It seems over the last week or so that everyday someone is asking newbies or noons what they need or want.

I can only imagine that this is some system set up to sell a wso or product.

A better method to attain this would be to go through the forum and do some trend analysis that way you'll see what people really want/need.

The feedback from this type of question will be largely worthless as people don't know what they want. There's an old quote that if henry ford had asked people what they wanted they'd have answered 'faster gorses'.

So if someone is teaching this perhaps you should think about getting a refund.

Most questions are newbies asking for help which is fair enough. There is a spate of more sinister posts that are asking newbies what they need. Its happening so often at the moment that it feels orchestrated.

    • Hi Ian,

I am new to internet marketing and I know I am new to the world wide web and the ways of how to market. I have never been online before to learn the ropes. I really want to learn how to market online and become successful in a short amount of time, I realized that as a newbie I have to learn walking not running. I am not missing any opportunity to learn and implement, searching google, watching videos and I also feel that I need a Guru who could better patronize me and give me more systematic syllabus for achieving my goal.
