Landing Page design...

Hey folks,

I am looking for some inspiration on landing page designs that convert. I am shocked to see that many of the landing pages that I have seen e.g. for selling affiliate products from Clickbank are so amazingly ugly and long. But why is that? I guess since they look like that they are proven to convert good? Or is it just because people can't design/code them any better? Being a designer and able to do high quality stuff, I just want some input here.

Cheers
J.

Design is not necessary a main factor when it comes to convertion rate. I have seen plenty of simple html pages outperforming elaborate flash designs.

The most important thing is the copy. Good copy will sell via ugly pages. Bad copy won't sell on the prettiest site in the world.

  • In all my tests and hearing from others often the copy pulls more then the design and I know the 99 don't agree but that's what I believe to be true. And often great looking "professional" design hurts of it's over the top.

Less is more, in my opinion. In my experience, the more time I spend on a landing page, the worse it does and I just end up wasting a bunch of time. As others have said, focused on your copy and split test it against a variety of landers.

I agree with you that most landing pages suck big time. I don't think ugly pages convert just because they have "call to action" buttons everywhere.

A fresh, unique design will help bring more conversions. Colour selection is really important. I really love this design. I saw this on Bear Css website. You just can't miss the button. I'm just giving you an example. As you are a designer, you should be able to design such pages.
