    - Start with the squeeze page so that at least you'll be building a long term asset in the process of making sales etc.

Squeeze page which leads to a sales page or
    "get in line" page.

Squeeze pages guarantee to get the optin, that's why
    they are best.

Squeeze to sale and presale to sell are two completely different arts that require completely different plans, there's no "better" but there's certain cases where one plays better than the other - for example squeezing people into the popular free trial rebills is bad on many levels, but presells convert. Working stuff like Clickbank products the list banks better as people often need convincing they should buy electronic products if they haven't before, and people who convert on an electronic product are likely to convert again.

So Jake you're saying that "squeeze" is better for CPA offers and "pre-sell" works better for Clickbank info products?

No, the opposite. Everybody banking jamming people into teeth whitener and whatnot is using flog/review/mag presells, people doing well with clickbank and that kind of stuff tend to build an email list to promote ebook of the week every week. You will of course find exceptions that prove the rule. Your budget, experience, technical level and personal slant dictate which approach to take, "better" is always what's better for you.
