What The Blazes Does This Mean?

I just sent a broadcast out to my list and got this message from their SpamAssassin checker:

RBL: Envelope sender listed in bl.open-whois.org.

What on earth does that mean? And how do I fix it?

The IP for your outgoing mail is blacklisted @ bl.open-whois.org. Visit that site to see if they have a process to remove the blacklisting. You might also want to find out why you were blacklisted.

Hi Colin,

From what I can tell, it basically means it's from a server that doesn't do anything to stop spam.

AS SpamAssassin - RBL

My guess is the the "BL" stands for BlackList.

Just a guess though.

Hi Colin,

I started a thread about this very same problem.

Well, I talked to Aweber support and he says that particular blacklist is down and is causing a false positive with spam assassin. So I guess problem solved.

Thanks everybody, I just got this reply from Aweber:

That is actually an issue with the third party
service that we use to give you the spam score.
They are aware of this and working to correct it.
You can simply ignore that at this time.

I just got the same message, I'm glad it is nothing serious!

I have been promoting mostly free stuff, so i couldn't figure out why I was getting this blacklisting
