Does creating a resources page help get more affiliate conversions?

Most Internet marketers create a resources page on their blog. The sole purpose of the page is to promote their affiliate products / services like Hosting, Themes, Plugins etc.

I'm planning to create a resources page on my blog as well. Should I directly place an affiliate link or should I interlink it to a blog post. Which would convert better?

In my opinion Interlinking is good for SEO .People can read my hosting review and then purchase via the affiliate link placed in the body of the article.

I'm a bit confused about the conversion rate. I may have to do some testing but it would be better if experienced members can give their suggestions

Thanks in advance.

I personally loved the way Patt Flynn from Smart Passive Income has presented his resources page. Do you know some more people who have a better resource page than him?
