OK.

So I am visiting a friend and chilling out and at some point she says "I hope you do not mind I am going to get a reading tonight and he is on his way over."

So I am like sure no problem.

On the inside I am like...WTF she is into that stuff?! She seemed so sane! You know, feet firmly on the ground type. I mean in her profession she is in charge of many employees and has been for years.

So anyway, I said to myself will I be able to meet this guy and not bust out laughing? Should I be mad that he is about to take money from a friend of mine for being a what do we call him? Ghost Buster?! She said that she thinks there are spirits in her house and he is going to cleanse them from the house.

So I am thinking OK what a con how dare this guy.

So he arrives and I take a peek out side the window...again WTH!

He's driving a Ferrari! Business must be damn good!

So I settle down and try to put things in perspective for a moment.

Is he just an entrepreneur? How can I judge another entrepreneur?

Do Marketers create entire authority websites about dogs and they are cat people?

If you sent someone to Amazon from your affiliate link and they bought one of those Abdominizer belts that is suppose to give your abs a slight shock and you will have those abs like the models in the informercial should that be on your conscious?

Do Marketers pretend to be women when they are men?

Do marketers own lottery websites, gambling tips websites and could we lose our ex and never get her back and still promote How to Get Your Ex Back?

Will you market Forex and you never invested in your entire life?

Would you promote E cigarettes if it meant a huge payday?

Have you ever reviewed a product you never touched?

So all these thoughts were going thru my mind on this guy and after his visit she seemed so pleased and relaxed.

Why? Because he I guess cleansed the house and he even said a positive word about me when she asked him. I thought that was too funny. Was that part of his mastermind plan?

So instead of giving her a lecture I kinda just accepted that he is selling her what she wants to purchase and I think that happens alot in our profession.

However if I was to hear he gave her a OTO in the thousands of dollars there will be consequences and repercussions.

What do you think?

One of my best amazon earning is from selling body building products, and I am over weight.
But I do go to gym and do my morning work out.

I had my first real success online with MMORPGs. I started with WOW guides.

I've never played an MMORPG. I never pretended I had.

    I can promote anything. I won't but I can.

Back in the day when you could directly link to clickbank offers from Google adwords with affiliate links, I'd promote all sorts of stuff I knew nothing about. I didn't even have to pretend to either. I was just directing traffic from Google to the offer pages and letting the sales page do the selling.

Sigh, those were the days lol

It's most definitely a sliding scale, a slippery slope and a thin line between selling and scamming.

I know I used a lot of analogies there, lol, but in the end, as you've pointed out, as long as she got the value out of it that she was looking for then it's all good.

The upsell or OTO.... a lot of people feel like this is where the hidden swindle really lies (pun intended).

I think, if done with responsible care, this is where you separate your true believers.

    I dunno...interesting points you've brought up.

    Definitely worth chiming in.

Hope it was worth all of 2 pennies.

Wow absolutely some great comments thanks.

@Brent I love that statement I could but I won't. I can remember times when I wanted to get into a market that I despised and I felt having some of their money would make me feel better but I said heck with that..stick with where I love to be at with people who will appreciate it.

Winning34 hahaha yea you got that right. I still love thinking about how little guys can slip right past a Google and a Yahoo and create a youtube and get bought out for 3 Billion or whatever it was....I will remain in search of a hit like that to the grave probably.

@ Focusedlife yea there is a side to every industry with a little less sunshine it seems I guess....I just love getting the guru email 24 hours right after he/she just had a prelaunch and launch and broke sales records and 24 hours later he is promoting another product to you like it never happened!

@Slade556 I think you just made some people want to go take a shower! That choice of words makes everyone feel dirty. Like someone mentioned of course we can sell fitness products even if we work out in a McDonalds.. Offer Value....You do not have to offer real blood I am sure there are sports coaches who never played Or could not play but can still create a champion athlete.

Marketers can and will try anything and everything. They are people and as we all know, some people will do anything for money.

The question we all have to ask ourselves is "how far will I go?" What am I going to do as a marketer?

You set your own standards, your own limits, your own boundaries and they will surely be different than everyone elses.

Some people choose to be straightforward, honest, and revealing.

        Others don't think that's important.

How are you going to present yourself?

Those are definitely some interesting things to ponder upon!
I think... yeah, if you want to achieve success you can go either way! You can be a cat person and promote dogs! You can review the cr*p out of a product you never even used and so on. A good entrepreneur doesn't necessarily have to be honest to make a lot of money with his job.

This has been a touchy subject for some here . I know that there are several people who do this on a regular basis. I don't know, but for me but it just seems a stretch as far as being ethical !

It's a interesting topic. Kind of like the old question you ask yourself before you begin your marketing career or building a blog. Are you going to marketing for more or are you going to be marketing for passion? While most get into the money I can say that even though they may go into a niche for the money they actually take the time to do the research needed for that niche before putting up information or promoting offers. While you have others with the sole purpose of just promoting offers because it pays with no research. I think you should branch into other markets especially outside of your comfort zone with the proper research, its how you become a expert at marketing.

      Great comments above thanks guys.

I have always been hesitant to get in the Dating Niche even though I know I can bring a unique perspective to it ever since I read Rosalind Gardners Internet Success Manual way back in 2003.

But ... the majority of guys do think with their head....which one is debatable and I think if you really want to make the big bucks you are going to exploit that.

I myself even got the ol..."lets hook up on this website link and do not worry its free to join".. Um...so we are talking already but we should further talk on a dating site that will pay you a commission once I sign up....Im IN! hahahaha. Gotta love this business.

Was just taking a News break and a couple stories kinda stood out.

First I could never do this...I do not have kids yet but if I did I just could not do it but more power to people who can...I just think too many creeps out there.

Would you plaster your kids on Ytube for a Million bucks?

Yeah the kids / toys niche is huge on Youtube. I'm a YouTuber myself (not at all the kids niche) and I'm friends with someone who makes videos with their kids - short movies, sketches and stuff and his channel gets 1 million views per day and I estimate that brings in about $2k a day in ad revenue. His videos are really good but you know what YouTube comments can be like....... some of the abuse he receives via the comments saying he's exploiting his kids are brutal. If I had kids, I wouldn't feel comfortable uploading videos of them on the internet. There's a lot of sick people out there.

There is a guy who does nothing but review new electronic gadgets also making alot of loot with a couple million channel subscribers and the woman who only shows her hands with a British accent opening toys as you mentioned shes crushing it with some big figures as well.

And can not forget the South Korean woman who does nothing but eat her meals on cam and makes like $9,000 a month!

Oh this marketing stuff can be fun....in one of my niches I am a modern day pimp in every sense of the word.

It's the webcam niche. I don't have a site at all, no product, no list...nothing. I just bought a domain and forwarded it straight to the affiliate link.

Then I went and had some business cards made up. I carry them with me when I go out to bars and clubs and even those clubs where some of the employees are not wearing all or any of their clothes. I do really well promoting this business in those places.

When people signup and buy tokens, I get 10% of whatever they spend as a commission. When they signup as a performer, I get 10% of whatever they earn as a performer...for life.

Several people I have referred make 5 figures a months...netting me 4 figures each. Lol.

I don't actively promote this project at all...just as a fun hobby and conversation starter in bars when people ask what I do. I use the opportunity to give them a card and low and behold, some of them watch porn online...lol. As it turns out, some of them even seem to want to pursue a career as a pornstar....who would have thunk it?

Last year it was almost a six figure niche for me...this year it will be. To "work" the niche I just have to go out and get drunk at a bar or club and talk to people. An opportunity to pass out a card or 20 always presents itself. It makes for great bar conversations too...lol

Wow what can I say David! You can have a starving marketer on one hand or somebody that is feeding their family on the other.

I thought about the cam industry before I always thought it would be high turnover....but the way you are doing it I guess it really does not matter always somebody new joining. Hmm.

It is fairly high turnover for the most part....just means I gotta go out drinking more often or visit a strip club I haven't been to yet....lol. You got problems, I got solutions.

I know people tend to get a little shy revealing their niches and rightfully so but I am sure there are a ton of disney rated niches out there.

There is a guy who went directly to China to get yoga mats manufactured and selling them on Amazon and having six digit months every month!

Yeah, the thing is for every success story like that on YouTube, there are hundreds even thousands of failures. The way that YouTube promotes videos means that people only get to see videos with hundreds of thousands of views and it buries all the rest. But that isn't representative of what is being published every day. But it makes people think that YouTube is easy.

Newcomers read stories like that and think all they need to do is to make a similar video and upload it and they'll also be earning $9k a month lol.

I know people who have been doing YouTube for 3 years and they have over a thousand videos but less than 500 subscribers and are only getting 200 views per day across the whole channel (and they're earning $10 a month)
