Google Targets Doorway Pages

Heads up all,

Looks like Google will be releasing an update very shortly that targets so called "doorway pages".

You can read about it here at Webmaster Central :-

Probably not good news for Amazon based sites, or affiliate sites on the whole.

    Interesting you've not received a single reply so far to such an important post. I recon half of warrior forum has scarpered off to their desks to begin the long haul of getting out of this one!

    I know of a few people on the forum who have promoted this type of strategy as a way to dominate the search rankings (often the entire 1st page). Always thought of it as a spammy, glad to see Google take some action on this.

    Honestly, if you run a real business and use legitimate SEO strategies, you have nothing to worry about.

    So far this is a good update. Domination will be switched from one hand to others now, Google will not show same product results for the same keywords on 2nd query. So, users will enjoy this changes, but affiliate marketers specially product based marketers will face losses.

    A good thing in my opinion if it doesn't do collateral damage which has happened in the past.

    I would prefer quality authority sites get the rankings.

    And as usual build up your newsletter and publish quality content and you will be fine.

    I just read the article and it looks like it will have no affect at all on legitimate affiliate marketers. And, it will clear up some valuable real estate in the SERP's

    I also wonder if Google will consider pages built specifically for adsense to be "doorway" pages. Because, in my opinion, those are the worst when you are searching for something. Somehow I doubt it though.
