After a long discussion in my writing business thread, I have decided to test the waters with writing PLR articles. I am new to this because I have only written unique articles to one person at a time. How exactly does selling PLR articles work? I have looked through posts of other members, but I am still somewhat confused on how the whole thing works. Would I need my own website to host everything? Could I possibly just sell them through the WSO section and email people their packs? Any input on this would be great = ) Thanks again everyone, you have been extremely helpful! ~David |

In the long run it makes sense to have your own website that makes it easier for future customers to buy. You can use dlguard or e-junkie to automate the digital download delivery in a secure way. |

I agree with sridhar. $10/yr for the domain, $5-$7 per month for a simple hosting account and $5 per month for e-junkie and you're in business. People tend to get disgruntled in this day and age if they pay and do not receive instant access to the product they just purchased. Selling one article pack to one person per month or ramen noodle dinners three nights per month basically cover your cost for the month. The rest is gravy. (Just don't put it on the ramen....ramen and gravy don't mix.) For a few more dollars per month you should invest in an autoresponder so you can market to your customers over and over again. For instance, to sell your new packs without having to pay a listing fee. |

Thats a very interesting Idea. Would a wordpress blog work well for a landing page? Also, any ideas on what I should charge? |

A WP blog would work just fine. In fact, you really only need one page. As far as pricing goes, it depends on how you decide to package your product and what your USP is. Are you going to be a low price, low quality option, middle of the road or a high quality, high price option? What is the market currently buying? Are you an excellent writer, an average writer or a poor writer? These are just a few questions you need to ask yourself. I don't expect you to answer them here, just to answer them. It sounds like the first thing you should do is research your competition and see how they set up their websites and what they charge. Take note of their unique selling positions. Do they offer quick turnaround, highbrow writing, longer articles for a lower price, etc? Google and various sections of this very forum will be your best friends in this venture. Nobody can tell you what to charge. However, the standard used to be a pack of ten articles for $10 with a maximum of 50 packs sold. The price seems to have trended lower of the past few months. |

More things to consider: Are you just going to offer niche PLR articles? Or, will you offer PLR ebooks as well? What about short reports? Website content? |

I was thinking just writing PLR articles. I dont have experience with ebooks. I dont know exactly what you mean by reports though. I was also thinking the articles would be considered website content, but I might be mistaken. I consider myself an average writer. Ive had experience ghostwriting for others, and have satisfied customers doing that. I think PLR might be better for time and effort. So for an average writer (college level writing experience) what would you suggest I charge? |

How much money do you need to survive? How much extra do you want to make? How long do you think it would take to write the packs? You don't wnat to sell yourself short and end up working long hours for the equivalent of below minimum wage. | |

Well... For a month I only need to make around $500, give or take. I know its not a lot, but my costs are low. That is really all I need. |

This is a great thread and, since I'm thinking of doing the same as the OP, I am wondering how to prevent buyers from reselling article packs after purchasing them. I've ghostwritten content before and normally don't think twice about whether the content is resold or not. However, if I'm promising buyers that the content will only be sold a limited amount of times (like 25), how do I prevent each buyer from not selling it again another 25 times? My concern is that my credibility will be affected if I tell a customer that the content will only be sold 25 times, but they find it on 50 different sites. Am I overthinking this or is this a real concern? If so, are there any suggestions on preventing this scenario? Thanks! |
