Is this a good idea for a membership site?

Hi Warriors,

I have one question, besides all the regular features of a membership site like training videos, q&a sessions, office hours and forums I thought of something else that could be added to any membership site..

The opportunity to post your own training videos, articles or stories in special sections of the site. And for each post or video you put up you get bonus points or something like that, so that you're rewarded for interacting with the community.

What do you think? This is just a basic idea of the concept, please fill in if you have any ideas!

    So, your definition of membership site is "stuff" basically....?

    I have a membership site, and it's heavy on personal one-on-one coaching and owner involvement - to answer each and every question that comes through.

    Yeah, there's training, but people want step-by-step help, not more training videos, at least that is what my market wants.

    Why would someone become a member of your site and pay money when they can already do that on social media? (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube,) and not to worry about points. Unless these points help them to get something truly valuable in return I would just stick to providing solid material that can't be found anywhere else. It's was a good concept though.

      The point system is your preference, and I definitely respect that.

      You misunderstood what I shared.

      I give ONE-ON-ONE coaching and step-by-step help, and meet my students right where they are.

      Where do you get that on social media? lol

      Yeah, there are tidbits of information everywhere on the web, but individual attention, based on exactly where that person is, and having daily access to a coach is a huge value.

      Of course I provide training videos, webinars, etc.

    I think that training videos, articles, etc.. Can be found anywhere online, what Carol_A said, people would like to pay for 1 on 1 coaching or some exclusive content. I think that's the best concept. But no one is stopping you from trying this, maybe you have some success with it. You would have to review every single training video, article, etc.. To make sure that they are unique and quality.

      Thank you for the feedback, it was just a thought though. If I'm going to launch a membership site in the future then I want to be unique and worth the monthly payment!

      Any ideas?
