Articles For Backlinks Only - GOOD or BAD??

I recently watched the Mass Control sales video where one part of the team mentioned that using his software you can create thousands of articles which can be used for creating backlinks only.

To be honest I thought this was just a sales line to cover the fact that the software in question will generate hundreds of articles that do no make sense. Better to call them 'Backlink Only' articles than junk.

Although I doubt one exists I am interested to know if anyone has a legitimate strategy for doing this and how it works?

My instinct tells me that this is not a good long term strategy if it works at all. If just 10 people flooded article directories with thousands of crappy articles then all the article sites would take action that will make it difficult for legitimate article writers. In addition to this I always work from the premise that Google and the other major search engines are smart.

Surely the challenge article marketers face is getting enough volume for their quality articles in order to generate the traffic they need?

Isn't that spam? If you want an article to go "viral" and get published then it needs to make sense. In any event you should get back links from sources other than articles.

IMO, bad...very bad.

An article, whatever the reason for writing it, should be of quality and of
actual use to the person reading it. I do not at all believe in cranking out
articles for backlink purposes only.

Value in exchange for value. I get this all the time. The article directories should be used in a way that you can leverage the existing traffic. Then of course you have to build up some backlinks to them once they fall from the first page in which they were published. Using them for backlinks is fine, but I think it is a better long term strategy to go all in for article marketing, meaning build some links to your articles using other article directories. Not 300-400 like some people, just the top five or ten. Create a unique version to submit to those and point them back at your EZA article using anchor text to keep the article ranked and recieving traffic long term. Submit your rss feed to some good directories not junk ones. Creating crap will get you crap results, do you really think a webmaster is going to want to use an article they found on an article directory if it reads like garbage and offers nothing of value? Sometimes people forget the point of article marketing, then when they get no sales or traffic they wonder why.

I would not want to have my name on an article that was junk. This might hurt me instead of help no matter how many articles I have out there. I always think that content and value are the most important, and will eventually pay off.

I still use article submission for backlinks building.

i do write some articles just to be syndicated....

but...

the only diff is that i don't worry about kw research - i write off the top of my head.

google does not need to send it any traffic - it just needs to index it.

however.... as steven said - u still have to think about the person reading it, and how that person will remember your name if he/she comes to your sales page in a month or so...

I only use article marketing for backlinks. Everything else is a waste of time imo. I use article marketer.

In some cases I use article marketing just for backlinks and other times I use it for legitimate traffic. I can personally only write maybe 10 articles in a day before I have to stop. The rest of the articles are usually written by a ghost writer. These articles are never perfect, but to get around this I usually try to do my best to teach the person what they are doing wrong. This always helps me improve the articles I receive. When someone is praised and told they can do better or challenged they usually try a little harder. Usually ghost writers are working on many articles for many writers so they are in a crunch to churn out articles. This is my way of making sure my articles come out slightly better and always grammatically correct.

I never send and spun articles to directories though... nobody can read gibberish these days...
