eBook Authours. A really different how do you feel ClickBank Question.

Hi All,

This question is for eBook Authors and future authors.

As long as we are discussing "how do you feel about" questions here is one. Really, several.

Right off the bat we all know that we don't buy eBooks that don't have MRR or some type or Resell Rights and distribute them to others. Or do we?

We don't give the ebooks to just anyone in general, but...

Hey Honey (speaking to wife) I have this great cook book, actually it's an eBook. Check it out and fix one of those great recipes. It's Michael Tracy's AfricanChief Cookbook.

Is that OK?

IF not, Stop here. If it is OK continue.

Hey Tammy (my daughter) check out this CookBook.....

You get the point.

Not OK? Stop here. OK, Keep going. Niece? Mother? Best Friend?

Hey business partner take a look at this real estate investment ebook, I think we should use this method. We will start tomorrow if you like the methods.

Not OK? Stop Here, OK, Keep on.... Hey Pard, Let's go halfsies on this great.....

Hey, my staff of 20, stop by my PC and read this organization plan eBook, It cost me $997. We start this as soon as you all "understand it."

Not OK. STOP. OK? Keep on.

Hey guys, (speaking to bowling team) Every body stop by my house tomorrow. I bought this $2,000 copy writing course. Everyone can take turns reading it and when we are ready we will do some copy writing to buy some new bowling gear......

ETC. ETC. ETC.

In my personal case these problems don't happen. My friends and family don't read eBooks. Well, except for Tammy but she is too busy writing them to read them. LOL. I'm asking because I wonder about the reasonableness of quibbling over the TOS I'm getting ready to use. In the strictest sense, my wife could not read the ebook/cookbook, on the other hand... well is there an other hand? Where is the line drawn as to sharing eBooks.

Is it the same as hard cover books, you pass them around but don't make copies.

If I send mom the cookbook and delete it from my PC is that the same thing?

?????

    George,

This is a real can of worms - get the popcorn ready.

Here's one point of view to consider.

I buy one of your ebooks and tell my wife she can't read it. So she says
"You used our joint account. 50% of that book is mine!"

"OK, sweetheart. You can have the important bits - the TOS, Disclaimer, Copyright notice and affiliate links. The rest is mine."

    George,

I focus on doing the stuff that I can control
that helps my business grow. Worrying
about the possibility of my products being
shared isn't going to stop it.

Neither am I going to add extra security
    that may inconvenience my customers.

Now, moving swiftly on.. because they tell
    me that popcorn is fattening...

Simple, fill it with enough affilaite links and upsell ideas so that the more people who read it, the more money you make - you want it to go viral and make you a killing
Could not agree with you more. Write an ebook with top content and plenty of relevant nad important links

It happens live with it because we can't change human natutre. Be grateful for the sales that you do get. The ethics are not important in the real world it happens and it is not going to stop. It is no more theft than lending a book, be grateful than someone somewhere must have bought the book to share.

I don't see an issue here.

It is, like you said, just as passing around
    a regular book. Only faster.

If you wanna protect your ebooks, just use
Ebook protections software. You can also fill it
with your affiliate links, so the more people read, the more
    money you potentialy can make.

It's all in the direction of your mindset. If you focus on someone ripping you off, you can't forge ahead in life. As la dominatrix said, people lend books and if your book is good enough to be loaned out to someone, be proud of it . . . there's heaps out there that don't even sell.

I don't care if my ebooks are shared around. Admittedly I think the torrent sites and blackhat forums take it too far but you can't stop that. Most of those guys aren't my target market. They are non-action collectors who just wanted to have every ebook because they think it'll make them succeed (this applies to every market, not just IM). They wouldn't have the money or inclination to do it if the stuff wasn't free to begin with so no sales lost there.

If someone likes what I've written enough to say, "Hey buddy, check out this awesome ebook" then that's a win to me. They are doing free promotion for me. Of my stuff, my name, my methods. That's another guy that will buy other products from me or whatever.

I can't stop people sharing it, nor would I want to.
