starting with zero cash and experience ..impossible?

hey everyone,

I wanted to share something for those who are struggling with no cash and or experience .

A few years back I was at the bottom end.
I didn't have much money , i had no experience in marketing and designing .
I read and followed some advice i got from fellow warriors.

first step : provide yourself with some cash you can use to start with .

I started cleaning out my attic and closets , searching for sellable goodies,
found some good things ( you can't believe the stuff one collects over the years )
and sold them on sites like ebay and similar.
i made over 700$ in about a week , that's 700$ i used for my marketing adventure

second step : overcoming the " no experience" problem.

before i started investing that money , i took the time to learn some skills.
I've Always liked designing and i started focussing on customising blogs.
I messed around , regging free domains and making websites , customising the looks and themes for Wordpress and step by step i got more experienced in it.
Now it was time to use that learned experience and make some money out of it.

I went out to local businesses, talking about webpresence.. i live in a small town and 75% of local businesses don't have a decent website.
i offered to make them a website based on WP with all the info the customers needed.
I was surprised that a lot of them were interested and i started to make my first money... without even touching that 700$.

fast forward to today... i make simple website in a jiffy , and that's what most of my clients need , just some webpresence ... it works for me and it gives me a good extra

so if you think you can't start without cash or experience , think again ... it is so possible , just put some efford in it

good luck

  • That's a great tip. But most IM newbies don't think that going door to door is part of internet marketing.

And yet it's the live event videos the online guru sells to their clients that makes them the big monthly income. Internet marketing is a business and should be treated as you would an offline business. It's about getting out there and making things happen for yourself.

I'm glad you shared your life story. You used the cold call offline sales approach and it got you started.

Most newbies need this reality check

    Hi Jurrie;

Inspiring story there. What you're saying is where there's a will there's a way. And you are living proof.

What you have also shown is not limiting yourself to staying online - to be successful online. That is called "thinking outside the box"

    Good job!

    Awesome! I'm inspired.

I'm doing the same but there is a little difference. Instead of a website, I'm offering a professional logo design to the local shop owners. A very high percentage of the shops don't have a decent logo, banner etc. So I have assigned 4 college kids to the job for me. They approach the shopkeepers and get me sales. In return, I pay them commission. I think it's better and easy if you assign 4-5 people. You can save time and make more money

Thats a great message. Yeah, you don't always have to invest a lot of money to make money. But, you definitely have to take action and work hard on it. All the smart ways that people talk about, they learn only after they've worked considerably hard at something. So, don't shy away from working hard in the beginning. We will automatically learn all the smart short cuts later.

Simple idea that can be implement by mostly anybody. Thanks for the sharing. Agree with that. Most of local businesses they dont have website & they just want online presence. Because some of them want to put their website address on their business card. That single line of web address on their card making them looks more professional & established. :-)

Yes and no, you are going to need some type cash to get started. Depending on what you are going do you are going to need an autoresponder, hosting, and tracking. As for as the experience you can learn all you need to know through youtube. I always tell people you will need time and money.

      Thanks Jurrie,
It really does show you can indeed start out with not much and turn it into something real.

I did pretty much that over 7 years ago.

I started with free Blogger blog. However, I recommend newbies to fork over a little bit with paid hosting.

Blogger is just not stable enough.

Anyway, thanks again for the story.

  • Nobody ever needs anything to get started online. You don't need a huge investment, or almost anything, to finally get started.

There are also people who do have the money to invest, but they keep asking others, "what should I invest my money into?" That's not how it should be.

Find a method that is viable and can make you money, and if you need money to invest into it, then go for it, but for those who have the extra cash to invest, don't throw it all away just because you have cash to spare.

I've seen people lose all their extra cash buying everything in sight.

There is always eBay if you need money to pay for hosting fees and possibly getting a website designer to make sure that your website looks good. This is what I did and have been pretty happy with how it turned out. The toughest part is waiting to age your domain and getting your posts and backlinks indexed in Google. I would say the 1st 6 months should be all about adding content

Thank you InternetMarketer1 for your excellent advice. I wish I could have followed it when i first started. But, to be honest, if I had read it back then, I probably wouldn't have taken notice, because I was too arrogant and I stupidly thought I could make it on my own. How wrong I was! I spent many years and far too much money that I couldn't afford, struggling, until, finally, I realized I wasn't going to get anywhere without a mentor --- someone to tell me what to do, and show me how to do it. One of the first things he suggested was to join the Warrior Forum, and I'm so glad I took his advice, for there are lots of wise men like yourself, and lots of knowledgeable experts on here, and none of you mind sharing your time and expertise to help others. Bless you, may you all keep smiling!

Made my first affiliate commission doing article marketing with no budget, even when everyone said article marketing was dead. Anything is possible when you're determined. I was uploading 5-8 high quality articles a day and sending the traffic to a review blog created with a free blogger account. That was in 2013.

I don't know if that still works, but if you put your mind to something, anything is possible. Not having any money to invest in paid resources and traffic is a sorry excuse.

I wont be surprised if there are more experience IMers here that started without a budget than those that did. I actually started off writing articles for associatedcontent.com for about $4 a piece. Then branched out from there after building some capital.
