How did you choose what to sell?

Some choose golf, some choose diet and exercise, others pick dating, money making info, and some pick porn.
I'm just asking you why you picked what you picked. I don't know why Eben Pagan picked dating or John Scherer picked computer training but they are doing well.
What did you pick and why?

I won't say what I picked, but I picked it because it seemed like a good idea at the time. And, I had a customer before I even started, so I had a head start.

Worked out pretty good too. I tried eBay, had some success there, but then eBay got too restrictive on things (I think one of my competitors may have complained) and after they ended a particular auction, that was the last time I used them to sell anything. (They did give me the chance to go back and change my auction, but I didn't think it was worth the bother.)

It worked out much better on my own website. It was pretty much where I could put something up and, sooner or later, it would sell.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I saw an idea loved it had passion for it and went on to sell that particular item.

If i was to say the most important part to niches i would say passion if you dont have that the effort will not be put in and the item will not sell as much as it could have done.

Its like when you write articles about things you hate you end up droning on and it doesnt make any sense to the reader and then bombs.

    kind regards

You cannot think of selling products which you cannot reach. If you want to sell anything then you should make sure that you can get in bulk. You also need to make sure that other people cannot get them within the price you are offering.

For this you need a lot of research as well.

I picked my products because they changed my life and attitude towards things. So why not share it and make money off of it. Actually my product choose me I think, it was an accident, I just fell into it.

Passion, life changing products, did anyone pick their niche because of pure profit motivation?

Yes, my sites are niche amazon sites, I have no interestes in pushchairs, drills etc purely for the money.

For me I sell what I'm good at creating. I've always had a knack with computers, and I'm able to work technically and artistically. In my experience, those of us who can do both aren't that numerous. So, creating web products for people is the obvious choice for me, given that it's the perfect combination of artistic and technical aptitude.

If I wasn't swayed by personal aptitude, I would go in two stages with choosing what to promote. I would start by picking the most profitable areas to target in order to build up steam, and I would then switch to concentrating purely on what I am passionate about.

You pick what you have a PASSION for and EXPERIENCE in.

This gives you more fuel for your drive and commitment.

If you venture into a foreign niche, you're going to quit faster than imagine.

Of course, make sure the niche is PROFITABLE.
