Hello everyone!

I've been trying to make money online for some time, but I'm afraid I'm not very creative when it comes to deciding just how to go on about it. I feel like I do have marketable skills, but I lack the ability to market them. If anyone out there could give me a few pointers on how to convert these skills into money, I'd be very grateful.

First off, I'm a pharmacist, so I know my way around drug information, general health, dieting, etc. I've considered doing consultations on drug regimes, but I assume that most people wouldn't trust some guy claiming to be a pharmacist online, simply because this guy might be lying.

Another skill I have is translation, from English to Spanish, and vice versa. This skill is the one I've tried to promote over at Fiverr and Elance, but so far I haven't had any hits.

On the subject of languages, I have some knowledge of japanese, especially of Kanji, the symbols the japanese use to write.

I've written a few articles online, most of them at Hubpages, but I don't know if I qualify as a real writer. If anyone could check one or two of them out and give me any feedback, I'd appreciate it.

I created a blog last year about a subject I enjoy, which is video game programming, but I'm afraid that it is too niche, and it attracts too little traffic. I promoted it through FB, Twitter, and many forums, but the interest in it was minimal.

I have some basic skill with HTML, Javascript, CSS, php, python, C++, and MS Office macros with Visual Basic. I've also tried to market these, but the available gigs are above my level.

I'm curently a doctoral student, getting my degree in physics. Right now I'm on a slim scholarship, so a little extra money wouldn't hurt. I can spend around 2 or 3 hours a day for anything non-school related, but that's about it.

So far the only place I've found some money is doing pharmacist surveys for $15 USD each, and have some referrals for that program, but those surveys are pretty scarce.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Hi!

Wow, that's some excellent and unique skills you have.

What is your passion? Is it health or something else?

Where do you see there is a need in the market that is lacking, in the area of your passion?

Those are some foundational questions you'll need to ask yourself first to be able to move forward.

  • Simply because you mentioned that you were a writer, go and land some freelance writing jobs.

Some people do not have the writing skill to make money from writing, but based on how you type, you have some type of potential. You could sign up to websites like Greenlightarticles, iWriter, and textbroker. All of them have some unique systems in place to help get you article writing assignments.

As you make money from this source, you could use that to your advantage for the future. You could be using your time very wisely, and then when you want to, you could reinvest that money or just continue doing that if you want to have that extra cash as a writer.

Freelance writing is a great and humble place to begin, and you'll also be learning about SEO and other things when you start working with clientele who have businesses in different markets and target different niches.

This would be simple for me. If you're a pharmacist, you should look into private label supplements, whether it's weight loss, weight gain, hair replacement, health supplements, anti-aging, etc (whatever you enjoy or, if you're smart, whatever the market wants you to sell them).

It's competitive, but if you create a brand and are in it for the long haul, you can be very successful. Insight into the pharmacy side would will likely give you a unique perspective on what products are best, and a unique angle in promoting them.

I believe that you have a leg up, because you could (or can in the future) have money to invest. Outsource the branding/design/web development and concentrate on driving traffic to it.

I've just checked your content, and I have to say that I was pretty impressed! You are definitely a skilled writer and there's tons of opportunities out there for good content providers. You're also highly specialized and educated, which is a definite plus in this business.

Content providers are always needed...The fees are being driven down all the time but quality content will always fetch a good rate in the end.

    Hello

First of all, You got mad skills bro!

videos and posts in the health type niche would be what I recommend... claiming to be a pharmacist but not making it a big deal when you say it does give you credibility!

and trust me, I have family members who got into the "living healthy" type thing, spending money to be healthy is something people in a flash if they think it will help...

building a list in the "health" niche I assume would be very profitable, but remember to give them good content!

I have heard some people doing pretty good in MMO niche for the Spanish Market.

Looks wide open to me and something you might consider looking into

Thanks to everybody for the very positive input. I'll look into all of your suggestions. After joining this site, I've toyed with the idea of writing an eBook and publishing it on Amazon, or offering it for free but through Adfly. I'll return when I've made some progress. Thanks again!

Focus on what skills you do have and build from there. Learn from taking everyday action and from other experts in your field. Focus specifically on EXACTLY what it is that you want to accomplish and try not to get distracted on what everyone else is doing. Keep your eyes on the prize. You would be surprised at what you do actually know and how you can help others out, you just have to believe in yourself more and know despite your current circumstances that you will learn and you will grow and you will only get better and better throughout time.

You promote yourself in a too competitive market!

Market yourself locally, don't aim high, don't aim on Google.
