Frequent lurker but infrequent poster.
Question for those of you who have has successful experience with lists. I realize that establishing trust and credibility with your subscribers by providing them with quality information for the first while is important, so how long do you wait to market your first product to them? I want my subscribers to feel that I truly want to help them (which is true) and that I am not just after their pocket book. Along with this, roughly how many e-mails would you send out before sending out your first promotion? And how many times per week would you be sending these e-mails out? I'm sure there's a happy medium somewhere, making sure not to overwhelm your subscribers, but also making sure they know you haven't forgotten about them. 'Ppreciate it!! |

I don't think you can generalise. I started right off with my own product. If there is a free trial then lots of people use it. You don't need to build a list. If a free trial is not an option (your product is an ebook for example) then what is the difference between selling it and someone else's product?
Whatever you do you have to give something away for free or no one will pay attention to you! We're all the same at heart ;^) |

I like to make a squeeze page, collect traffic to it, and hit the list with affiliate offers/give lots of value. *IF AND ONLY IF* it looks profitable will I bother having a product developed.
