Why So Many How to Make Money and $100 a day Threads - Do Newbies Ask the Wrong Questions ??

I have been spending quite a bit of time on this forum again to ensure I keep in the know and contribute what I can to the community and have noticed the immense amount of generic "How to Make Money Online" and "100 A Day" questions that have been irritating quite a few of the more established warriors and I realized the newbies ask the wrong questions because they simply don't know any better and we just keep giving them the wrong answers.

We tell them that they need to:
1) Choose their method of monetization (CPA, Affiliate, Social Media, Youtube, Adsense, Niche Sites, Email Marketing, PPC etc)

2) We tell them they need to learn up on their preferred method, stick to it, take action, grind it out and improve their methods till successful then scale up and/or diversify

This is great advice but its too general for a newbie, and its doesn't do much to add valuable actionable information to this forum. Newbies need to be trained on how to think, how to approach their learning.

We should encourage them to ask questions to help them choose a path and then follow it to completion:

1) What are the pro's, con's, of the different methods
2) What do I need to have in order to implement chosen method
3) What knowledge and skills are needed in order to implement method
4) What are the various parts of each skill that I need to have
5) Where can I learn all that I need to about each skill
6) Are there any alternative ways to implement my method
7) Where can I find skilled people to assist me (outsource)
8) What should I pay these individuals

I think approaching newbies from this perspective may both help them with actionable questions as well as improve the quality of info for other newbies to learn from in the future.

Yes! You're right!

A newbie needs to know the big picture of this space. Otherwise they will ALWAYS get distracted.

One thing that I think is very very crucial is that they have to know that whatever they're doing, it's all about presenting good value proposition to the right audience PLUS testing + tweaking. That statement itself is I think, the biggest picture there is.

I find that the simpler your principle is, the better you're gonna fare in this space.

I honestly think too much info is hurting people. People starting out just need to pick ONE method that they feel would work for them and has worked for others and just run with it 100% and don't second guess themselves or let self doubt paralyze them.

I started with just ONE thing and didn't think about it too much.

Hi Em,

Good questions.

More than anything, I'd ask: why?

Practical tips, well we need to follow them, after asking the above questions to gain clarity.

But why are people wanting to make money online?

Why did I start?

I wanted to be free. Plain. Simple. But i lost my way in a sea of practical tips, of strategies and techniques, so I chased numbers instead of freeing people, myself included.

Getting clear on my reason why I instantly expanded my reach, gained some clout and prospered.

But it wasn't until I got serious on working to free me, and to free my audience, that everything fell into place.

Most newbies - and I was one of them lol - are 100% self serving. They are looking out only for themselves.

Which is why nobody really buys from them, or learns from them, or trusts them. Selfish folks can't help us; too busy helping themselves.

If however you figure out why you want to work online, and you tie that reason to being free, and to freeing others, you instantly become attractive to more folks and you also begin to learn your craft inside out and you also enjoy the ride.

You'll ask those clarifying questions, will wait for answers, then you will find your path online.

A lot of what has been said is very good sensible stuff. Just trying to think back to when I was a 'wide eyed newbie' dipping my toe in the online marketing water, I think what i would have liked is a more prescriptive 'this is the way you do it'.

Look for what others have used and try to align yourself to what they have done as closely as possible.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel (at least not until you have various existing wheels creating some degree of success).

Call it modeling, call it mimickry, call it whatever you like, but in the early days imitation is not only the best form of flattery, it is also the quickest and easiest way to success in any arena. Once you have the confidence of some success under your belt, it all becomes far easier.

Of course these are just my opinions

  Not reinventing the wheel is very important. People come in trying to do things their own way and end up not getting the results they are seeking.
  
  Often times when people actually realize what it takes to make money online they don't last.Work is required, but if you put in the effort and surround yourself with people who care enough to help you will be able to piece things together bit by bit.
  
  Follow the steps that are being told and remain consistent. Ask questions!
  
  Sometimes you may need a more in depth answer to why, but don't just disregard what someone further along is suggesting to you.

You nailed a Point. Many Newbies are not actually ready to do the work required and that's why they keep jumping from one make money topic to the next.

if you want to make money online, settle your brain down, pick a module and stick to it.

I think that people are people. Many newbies will keep asking the same questions over and over. Sure, this will never stop.

There are way too many things beyond our control.

And yes if the same question keeps being asked by the same people over and over, that is very annoying.

What this really is...is a cry for help. But who can really help them. Some of them don't really want to be helped. They are just going through different cycles in life. Some of them will never make money here in IM and this is just something the real marketers have to accept.

It's not that they can't, it's just that they won't based on their decisions and their decisions are based on their mindset.

If they are not willing to change their mindset, then they are not going to make the right decisions.

Most people (not all) come into this industry because of an 'idea' that it's easy money [Me INCLUDED Before].

Then I found out the hard way that there really is a lot involved.

But I am very glad that I still came into the industry (even having to learn the hard way).

  I know when I was a Newbie here years ago, I wanted to directly ask questions that were very Unique.
  
  Consequently, I did not use the Search function because many times my question would NOT be like other questions Newbies had answered.
  
  So I do not have a problem helping Newbies with question after question.
  
  Of course, when it is EXACTLY the same question over and over it can get a little tiresome

Just had another thought.

To all you veterans out there...

First of all, thank you for all your contributions to this forum (and to the Internet in general).

Marketers do literally have the Power to change the world in the form of 'Influence'.

But here is a different approach to looking at this situation.

The same questions are being asked over and over. Right?

But you guys (as contributors) are helping a lot more people than you know. Every time one of these questions gets asked, a lot more people benefit from your answers than just the OP.

And the way we make money is by giving 'value'.

Knights of USA keeps asking the same stuff but the other newbies are reading your answers and 'benefiting' from your value and time.

  Thank you all for your answers on this thread. I wrote this after reading yet another rant from a senior warrior, I have been in and out of this forum since 2008 so believe me when I tell you I have read quite a few.
  
  As more seasoned IMers, my view is we need to help newbies to get over the 'wild eyes' they have an help them focus, but the usual advice we give is still to general and they remain overwhelmed. We have to train them to ask the right set of questions. If we can do more of that in a short time the search button will be platinum.

I think that not only newbie but veterants too need a mentor in Internet MArketing. There are a lot of hype and this can choose the wrong way. This is my experience

Many newbies drawn into the internet marketing is because of the dream that was sold to them.

What the seller did not tell them is, there are
1. Tons of work to be done.
2. boredom of the repetition.

They were told that all of the above can be handled by tools, or Virtual Assistant.
What they don't realize is that they have to understand the big picture before they can use those tools or VA.

They do not know that they have to prepare a very detail to do list for the VA, or they will be wasting their money.

This business, at the end of the day, is tough. It's not an overnight type of thing. I always tell people, "trial and error will be your biggest mentor in all of this."

When you find that one thing you want to stick with that you feel fits in with your budget and interests, stick to that for as long as possible. Oftentimes, people tend to struggle in terms of what to do next, reinventing the wheel, or trying to build this huge business by automating everything.

I see people talking about outsourcing basic things that they can do.

Don't over complicate things.

When you're starting out, all you have to do is find something THAT WORKS, put in the time to take action, and repeat it until success becomes the next option.

Information overload is another thing one of you guys mentioned here.

This forum has so many threads with so many ways to make money......

It's easy to get lost.....

So focusing on your one method goes a long way.
