What is ALEXA Playing at?

Hmm I noticed several of my sites have a HIGH Alexa ranking (which is of course good news).

Have you guys lately checked your Alexa rankings?

Its come as a shock!

One of my sites has a ranking of 50k!!

Not really... because it is meaningless. The whole thing is over-rated and irrelevant.

I don't know anybody that uses Alexa toolbar. Definitely my visitors don't. Maybe your visitors have the AT, while another site's visitors not using AT can produce the same unique number without ever showing up in Alexa. If we take this last example (i.e. two sites with the same number of unique visitors) their ranking will depend on whether the surfers have A.toolbar or not.

That's why I ask: is it relevant?

Good point you make there. I knew it was kinda weird, and its not even accurate!
