Are you aware of google ?

You guys all know that google and FB are collecting data from your account "just in case". They use it to track your activity to prevent illegal behaviour or so one. It also use it to give you product you need based on what you are looking for in google and pages you visit. I knew about it but i did not know that Big G is digging in mail chat.

Today was talking with my friend on google mail chat. We exchanged an ideas about some products i have never heard about and never even try to search for it. Few minutes later i opened a web store not conected with the product and on the sidebar i have noticed an add with this product. Moreover i received an email offer with similar product but not from the company but SEO forum (not warrior).

So my question is - should i still use google mail ? What do you use as an alternative ?

I have stopped using gmail for that very reason. I only use hosting companies that allow me to create free email accounts tied to the domain name or alternately I use the email that is provided by my Internet service provider. Hope that helps.

If you clear your cache and cookies you won't have the same ads following you everywhere.

It's a method advertisers use to follow you until they make a sale.

It is not cookies problem but google spying your mail and sending infromation about you to another company

Open a brand new account on Facebook. Don't provide any information whatsoever other than your email address (mandatory).

Now watch as Facebook starts suggesting people that you might know - people that you DO actually know.

        Spooky or what?!

They've been doing that for a VERY long time and if you don't like something, then don't use Google. It's as simple as that.

Google is a business and they are doing everything what's "legal" to maximize their revenue and keep the shareholders happy. Have a look at their privacy policy and you'll see what I mean.

Thay can not do much about that. At the moment European Parlament is debating about G and FB and tring to force them to stop collecting data from EU citizens cause it is against EU law.

Do you think that in the worst scenario EU can ban FB and G in the europen countries because of that ?

What about Apple ? How they are collecting / using data from us ?

To Apple users because there are lots on them amont wariror comunity. How do you prevent sending too much data to Apple ?

Uh everyone is doing that.. with every product. Pizza Hut is collecting data from their sales and comparison it to purchased data from the meat industry to determine if they need to make Turkey burgers.. but what does it matter? What personal data are you worried about? They aren't collecting any data to deter illegal activity.. thats the DOJ's job and it only happens after a crime has been committed. So what is more reasonable to assume.. Google is collecting data to deliever better quality ads to try to get clicks so it can make revenues.. or.. it decides profit is a bad word and wants to rid humanity of all criminal activity and has partnered with the department of justice to ensure its users are skeptical of using its products and violates NUMEROUS federal laws in the process... ya.. guys grow up and use the product.

Ok i am gonna give you an extreme example what can happen in the near future if google will know everything about you. Your age, your habits, interests, people you know, where you are.
Few months ago scientists made thinking robot who play games. Everytime it play a game it getting better and it beat human. The robot is not plaing any scheme. It predicts what can heppen. There is no doubt that robots in 100 will take place in our daily life because it will be cheaper for us to buy robot than nany.
Anyway lets get back to google. Now it collects data and sending an contextual add. People in general do not know about it. They do not care about why those things show up in their screens. Google manipulate people to sell a product. What if they start to manipulate subconsciously and force us to do something ?
If the robos will start to think and based on web activity will choose people who are mentaly weak and convince them to murder or souicide? They can use psychological aproach and sending those people some adds or knowledge how to do this and generaly mind **** them. You will tell me that rebel of the machine is hardly possible but we do not know what will hapen in 100 or 200 years.

Also.. the facebook thing.. its because you give it access to your email account that looks up all your email contacts and then suggests you add the profiles connected to those contacts.. not rocket science or voodoo.

I don't have any email contacts in my Windows Live Mail. Facebook is going through my messages. Either that or "voodoo"

Wait, what? They use topics you talk about in chat to display those ads? Are you sure you didn't visit the advertiser's website at some point or another?

There's a way to target people who've visited your site, but this is the first time I'm hearing about it happening from chat logs.

One thing so many people just seem to not understand. When you use a free service, YOU ARE THE PRODUCT!

Want a service for free? Then be ready to be the product or just don't use it. You can pay for a service or get it for free and be the product.

    It's really that simple.

    Hey Karol Tworek,

    Thanks for your information.

I have gone through with same situation that you faced but after doing this i haven't faced.

    Start Google Chrome>> Setting>> Privacy Setting >>Find "Do Not Track">> Choose>> Save>> Ok.

After completing this process your information whatever you discussed and searched will never trace.

    Thanks.

For anyone curious about this, check out the Snowden documentary on HBO...you will be absolutely amazed how intrusive the government is in monitoring our daily activities. There is no such thing as privacy online anymore, and there probably hasn't been since the world changed in nine-eleven. So don't look at this as a Google issue...it's so very much bigger than that.

Everything that you do online with Google or FB is being tracked. They are using all of this data as a way to 'control' the population. It isn't being used to help you.

They use statistics to help them get a better idea of how market trending is happening right now and how it will change.

They want to know more about the population, how we make decisions and especially what we like to 'buy'.

But don't let this frighten you.

You guys are after all marketers right?

Do you know what happens to people who really know how to market?

Do you know what happens when techsavvy nerds become really good hackers?

They get hired by 'Big Brother'.

But please don't get me wrong...

    I am not condoning hacking..lol

That only comfirm my theory that in the future computer will be able to do a psychoanalysis of us in a few seconds and manipulate. I do not think it will be during out lives still it is very likely that computers will take control of our world. :]

Those who can be "controlled" so easily deserve it.

    Peace,

It's 'data-mining', one of the most profitable things of this age, hence why everybodys doing it. There are many many free alternatives to Google, but to be perfectly honest: if you want a high quality service then pay for it.

Ironically a Google search is all that is required to bring you up a list of the best ones.

    Peace.
