Does this method make money?

HI guys. I'am a beginner in this area but i'am willing to learn and work. I have decided to take my passion for running and create a website in Wordpress about that. It talks about training, nutrition and it also has a secting for review of products.
How can i best monetize this? I'am thinking of joining the affiliate program from amazon and put the link in the reviews section. Do you guys think this method can make money? What can i do better?
At the moment i don't have .com domain, is that a must?

First, congratulations on taking the first step - making your decision to go with your passion!

#2: YES - you should definitely register your own .com domain name. This is essential to building your brand and helping your potential visitors to know, like and trust you.

#3: In my opinion, I believe I would concentrate first on building out your new blog with a lot of valuable and informative content. Think of about 15-20 topics in your niche, do your keyword research and write an informative blog post about each of them.

#4: Create a video about each of these topics. Upload the videos to YouTube, optimize each of them, and share them on social media sites.

#5: Embed your new videos into their respective blog posts and share the blog posts.

In each of your blog posts, you can add photos that link to your related affiliate products. You can use an Amazon affiliation, eBay, or go to the individual manufacturer product sites and see if they have their own affiliate program.

#6: Start thinking about creating your own product like an ebook or a combo ebook and video course that you can market and sell yourself. Eventually you may even be able to add your own product to JVZoo and have your own affiliates promoting the product for you.

#7: DON'T GIVE UP. It may take you a bit of time to start seeing results, but stay the course.

And I'm sure there will be a lot of more experienced marketers here who can share their input too.

      Hi plxiZnoGouD,

To start your own website and monetizing needs some planning,

First of all i first advise you to concentrate on building good unique reviews and content and once you will start getting the good traffic then you can think about monetize the blog,

      So few quick tips

      > Register .com domain
      > Get some good looking and simple theme
      > As per as your niche start researching some good affiliates
      > Setup Social Accounts on Facebook, Twitter and other popular ones and start sharing the content on social network.
      > For monetization you can start with google adsense and once the traffic will grow you start reviewing some of the affiliate products.

First don't concentrate on monetization, just try to work on your website to make it user friendly and filled with some unique and high quality content so that it will be shared by your site visitors.

Their is very good website by John Fletcher, which will give you an idea about setting website or blog in 10 steps. How to Setup Make Create Write and Start a Blog

You've taken all the right steps so far, and it sounds like you've selected a good strategy than most newbies who just search day and night for quick 1-click methods.

Training, health, and nutrition have some of the biggest selection of affiliate products not just amazon so you'll have no trouble finding good products to monetize your site with.

You don't have to choose just one. Amazon is a good way to start, and you can move onto other products as you find them in the future. Best of luck!

Hey I agree with Ksmusselman, its important to have your own domain not a must to be .com though, can be .net depends what you get. Use https://www.godaddy.com/ to buy your domain and then use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...dlanbbkooimhnj which will make your domain almost free.

    Thank You

Yeah, becoming an affiliate is perhaps the most common way to make money online. I also recommend that you get your own domain name, so that you have control over your content. Free sites are very picky about what they let you promote and have the authority to remove your content at any time (happens a lot). Also, the free version of Wordpress does not allow you to use affiliate links. When you get a domain name, you should choose one that's relevant to your niche but broad at the same time, so that you can promote multiple products.

On the plus side, the health and fitness niche is very popular, so that are plenty of products for you to promote (both physical and digital). For example, Insanity by Shaun T. was the most popular workout program last year. There are tons of keywords you can use to promote that. That' something you can promote on Amazon. P90X by Tony Horton was also amongst the most popular workout programs -- something else you can promote via Amazon. Six Pack Shortcuts (and other products) by Mike Chang (all over Youtube) are also popular. They are on Clickbank. There are also lot of diet books and stuff to promote.

You have taken the most important step to success which is taking action. If you are really passionate about the niche then go for it. There are many ways to monetize a website aside from Amazon.

You can find products from your niche also on Clickbank and you can also promote free trial CPA offers.

It's a good idea to register a domain name. There are many free hosting options available but imagine you put in months of hard work and then your free hosting account is terminated along with your website.

And also when i have domain at godaddy what do i have to do move the site there?
Sorry if this questions are too basic.

Clickbank is like a virtual market place -- a place where you can go to promote other peoples' products. It's like Amazon, but all of the products on Clickbank are considered information/digital products -- things that can be downloaded (products are usually in video/audio/PDF format).

When it comes to knowing about keywords, it's helps to know about the niche you're in, but you can also use a free keyword tool like the Google keyword planner. Outside of including keywords and variations of them in your written content, there are a number of Wordpress plugins that allow you to insert them in particular places, so that the search engines take note of them.

always recommend buying a .com to establish the dominance on your brand

Make sure you choose the right affiliate network as there are some great products out there that convert better and pay more than the likes of amazon.

Click bank is an affiliate network that offers a selection of products that publishers (like you) can promote.

It seems you are a total begginner, so before worrying about affiliate programs, first buy some hosting, install wordpress and play around with various themes and understand how the back end works.

There are thousands of resources online to learn the basis so its about putting in some time and graft as you can only learn this stuff with experimentation.

First step: choose a specific niche, don't just go with training and nutrition, choose some thing like, best tips for losing weight for people over 30. Be specific.
    2: Buy a domain name form godaddy.com or namecheap.com.
3: Buy a hosting plan, you can get that from hostgator.com or any company that provides hosting service.
4: Create your own blog using Wordpress and you can find plenty of tutorials on YouTube about this step.
5: Create and publish high quality content about your specific topic on your blog.
6: Make sure to create an optin form on your blog to capture your visitors email addresses and build your list.
7: Build trust and offer value to your subscribers.

    Good one.

As you venture to build your online empire, avoid distractions at all cost. anything that will divert your attention, get rid of it.

Now that you have chosen affiliate marketing, keep this tips handy.

==> Avoid promoting too many products, pick a niche and stick to it
==> Network with other affiliate marketers
==> Know what is working and what is not
==> Since you choose amazon, don't promote products less than $150
==> Focus on giving value by providing informative content
    ==> Build a List
==> Promote you blog on social media
==> Use softwares, like easy azon, amazon associate goliath and dripfeeder to automate tasks (but know when to use them)
==> Become the expert and come back to tell us your success story

    Wishing you the best.

Hani D gave you the best advice in the first sentence of his reply.

If you don't do what he says (which you probably won't because it doesn't look like sexy advice).....I'm afraid you'll die, or at best you'll struggle to make any money.

See, I'm (well I was) a runner. I can get any amount of information online on almost every aspect of running you can imagine. However , if there was someone out there in webland who understood my situation (used to run a lot but getting a little older and want's to get back into it) and if I believed that person was addressing ME directly, as opposed to simply giving general advice about running, and if that person seemed to genuinely understand my problem.... I would immediately become a faithful follower/advocate/customer.

My situation is just one of many I'm sure.

Reach out and FIND A NICHE WITHIN the running market, or unfortunately you're likely to be back here in a year's time, like so many others, saying, I've built a blog, filled it with good content, get a gazillion visitors a day ball blah blah but.....GOT NO SALES.

Don't dream that you could be a 'player' in the 'running' niche, it's NOT a niche.

    These could be some niches

    barefoot running
    running after childbirth
    running for asthma sufferers
running after a long lay off ;0)
    running for the morbidly obese
    running for the mind
    running to cure depression
    running for the over 70's
    running for the under 15's
running for couples with different fitness levels

I could go on all day.

    PLease....pretty please NOT JUST RUNNING

To really make money with your site you want to install autoresponder to build a list. You can use getresponse or aweber. Initially you may want to choose a product to sell and I must advise that you personally buy the product and use it yourself and/or check to see if it is worth promoting. Also when you buy the product you will have intimate details about it to write your sales copy.

Because this is a niche you yourself is passionate about you want to create Your own product. The way is to purchase health related niche PLR and rewrite it and/or add more important items to it. You want to find people who can send leads to your landing page to get traffic but you may have to pay for it.

I would also write articles keyword related for your site and optimize your page to get high ranking on Google. Long tail keywords work best.

The one very important thing I want you to take away and it is TO BUILD YOUR OWN LIST. If you fail to do this you will not make great money in the long run. Everything you do on line is to build your own list. I guess I say it enough of time now.

Just create Youtube channel with your own show in specific niche you love. Talk about everything you know like you are the master of it. Always tell people 2 sides, the positive and negative, and then put your recommendation in the end (where you can put your cloaking affiliate link).

Promote your Youtube channel. It's easier than promote the website.
Try to become the YT partner.

With YT you don't need to build a list ever! But you can do that to for more profit.
You don't need a website to build or .com domain to buy. But if you do... that's a plus.
You don't need to write perfect article... just say it and it becomes a unique article by itself.
Any content style will work with Youtube... you can test them all, which one is fit into your subscribers.
So many advantages if you go with Youtube first rather than your own website from scratch.

I did it with Youtube and save a lot of money to build the affiliate business that makes me steady money. And I don't have my .com domain or even a site, or even a facebook fanpage.

    Good luck!

Running is big niche, cardio exercises you can target general population as almost everyone want to keep fit and healthy and running is a great exercise for this. I myself into running as an interest. If I was you, the first thing I'd do before even setting up a blog, is to signup with an autoresponder and have an email capture form in place, then build your blog and place the catpure form somehere above fold or even as a light pop up. The reason is simple you want to start building a following from the beginning.

Great to know that you are starting out on a niche you are passionate about. Running is a niche that had lots of room for monetization. You can monetize through Adsense, Clickbank products and Amazon products. Further, you can also offer premium videos for a subscription since you have passion in the niche. So good luck and go ahead with your venture.

Thank you plxiZnoGouD for asking this question, which generated some really awesome replies.
Congratulations on taking the first step.
If I may, I'd like to suggest that before progressing much further, that you look for, and engage, a mentor. I wish I had done this myself, back when I started, but I thought I knew it all.
I saw how much money some people were making, and I was convinced I could do the same myself, but I was wrong.
I spent many years, and far too much money that I couldn't afford, looking for the Golden Key to Riches that does not exist.
Finally, humbled and broke, I realized I wasn't going to get anywhere without a mentor --- someone to tell me what to do, and show me how to do it..
One of the first things he suggested was to join the Warrior Forum where, as you have found, there are lots of knowledgeable and experienced marketers who generously share their expertise, and their valuable time, in helping others. There are mentors in every niche, and they charge fees for their coaching. But, whatever it costs, it will be peanuts compared to the money you make when you put that coaching into practice. Good luck, and keep smiling!

I do not know a whole lot about this Niche per say but I am a life long Runner and know what would interest me as a visitor to running site

I think you know by now it does make money.

Just go out and make the site first, and worry about which method you're going to monetize it with later. There are more than enough options.

I'll second this. It may be hard to understand at first, but tracking and optimizing is often what takes a campaign or site from money loser to money maker.

Lots of great suggestions here. As others have said, building a list of subscribers is very important. Your email list will be one of the most valuable assets in your business. Some people have stated that Amazon pays low commissions but if you were to market high priced items like treadmills, elliptical trainers, and stair steppers, you can earn some nice commissions on these high priced items even though the percentage pay out is low.

Its good you are starting your business online. Please you should have your own domain. I dont really think a .com is compulsory. There are many non .com that are doing well online. Monetizing it: you should join an affiliate program. I suggest you go to clickbank and join their affiliate program. You can find good and relevant products you can begin to promote before your own product is ready.

    All the best.

You are in the right path, go ahead and do it man.

You will become steady with experience.

You can join clickbank, amazon or whatever affiliate network that offers a valubale and relevant product to your topics.

I assume you are going to setup a self hosted wordpress site, it means you need a domain name. Either it is .com , .net. .org or .co.

I don't mean to sound discouraging. But you should make sure that your area of interest - in this case, running, has a sizable market with a relatively good demand before you launch into it.

If you are a successful trainer in real life, don't forget to add your success story. Further add your photos and videos to the website and promote yourself as a brand. People like to buy products when it's recommend by a real person who are successful in the related field.

You can best monetize that website by promoting affiliate offers related to nutrition like weight loss and muscle building. When you want to use wordpress, you really need to get your own domain and hosting and yes .com domain is recommended. If you do not want to invest in your domain and hosting, you can create affiliate sites using free blog platforms like blogger.com and simply drive targeted traffic to that blog. .. and yes product reviews works well.

First and foremost, you should get a domain name and set up your own website.
And then, yes, writing about your experience and everything (nutrition, tips, whatever it is you want to share) is the next step. Make sure you use the right keywords for it, so you can drive traffic to your website. You need to establish trust first, use off page SEO techniques as well to promote yourself, and one you get some decent traffic you way, start promoting some products.

if you plan to go with affiliates, do NOT buy your domain from godaddy.com.
Godaddy try to get 75usd because of one of my affiliates sended spam for promoting my products. My product is on clickbank and I do not even know who promote or spam. I said godaddy that "this is not my guilt, you must contact who spamed." Godaddy never listen me. They take my domain and redirect. I registered new domain from namecheap. I lost thousands of $ while changing domain. There is still affiliate links on some sites, which goes to old domain.

I keep on preaching this but find a website that is profitable doing what you want to do and model it.

If it is working elsewhere then there is a great chance it can work for you.

Do not try to re-invent the wheel of come up with the most ingenious stuff, no yet anyway. find something that is working, model it then test things to try and improve on what is already working

    A few comments and suggestions...

Yes, you can monetize this niche/market. However, there will be some work involved.

For starters, make sure the website and domain look legitimate. If they look like an 8th grader built them, you WILL fail.

Secondly, you should setup a matching Facebook page and integrate it with your website. Branding should match. Colors should match. You get the idea.

Once you have your Facebook page setup, start sharing your content and content of other authority sites in your niche on your Facebook page.

After you've got the Facebook page fleshed out and your site filled with GOOD content, launch a Facebook "like" campaign and build your audience. Yes, you will have to spend a few dollars. Done right, your campaign should cost you less than $100 and should result in upwards of may 1000 REAL fans who want to hear what you have to say.

Now that you have a fan base, continue posting fresh content on your site and sharing it on your Facebook page. Traffic WILL FOLLOW.

Only after you've established a relationship with your readers, start subtly promoting products on your site and on your Facebook page.

This, of course, is a high-level overview but I can tell you from experience that the strategy works beautifully when implemented properly.

Drop me a PM if you have any questions. I can shoot you a link to my own site as an example of what I've done to generate upwards of 1000 visits per day to my website.

    Box 1.
    The Foundation
Building a business, whether it be on the internet or brick and motor, requires almost the same set of strategies and skills.
    1. You must determine at the onset which type of internet marketing campaign you wish to engage in.
    • Direct Marketing, Article Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, MLM, Network Marketing, Content Syndication, Direct Product Marketing, etc. You can choose one or more, but they must be compatible for your market niche'.
    2. You need to select your mastermind team.
    3. Selection of team members needs to be determined by the ability of each segment of the market you are going to engage. A team member need not be an expert in a chosen segment but MUST have the ability and the desire to become an expert.
    4. Get a clear and concise idea of what your product will be. Design your website or blog to reflect the keywords most closely associated with your product.
    5. Set up your accountability process and your time line.
    6. Establish your internet brand (yourself) well in advance of ever attempting a product launch,
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Linkedin
    • MySpace
    • Friendstr
    • Buzz plus a dozen more niche' internet social sites.
Always keep the thought in mind that any social site is never intended for selling. The sole purpose is to make contacts, to keep your name in front of the audience.
Now Box 1 may seem a bit simplistic, believe me, it is not. If you do not set up your system for operating a business, you will not succeed, period. This box is your call to action, it is now time to start your checklist and develop your plan.
All the resources you will ever need, and most of them free, will be outlined in the next 40 boxes in a step by step explanation.

Congratulations on starting your own website and moving forward!
Monetization can come in many forms. Adsense, Clickbank, Amazon, your own product(HIGHLY recommend), email marketing, and membership access for premium content.
Build an audience up and see what they really need while running adsense and some amazon stuff.
I'm sure you'll find some means to monetize your traffic better over time. However, your niche, "nutrition", is a pretty tough on, so I bid you good luck!

I'm working on a similar niche site that we are launching in a few days. There are tons of ways to monetize in the fitness and nutrition niche. My advise is to do everything. If a blog post discusses a physical product than link it to Amazon.

On this particular site, we will be offering paid memberships. I really like the $1 trial and then offering a lifetime membership for less than $99. Use a $9.99/week as an anchor for pricing.

Once we have all the bugs worked out we'll open it to affiliates with a 50% commission.
