Question about subdomains and keywords

Hello there just a quick question, I am sure one of you can answer it quickly

When registering a domain, I know you are supposed to put keywords and all that in there, but what do you do if you plan to have several subdomains targeting specific keyword phrases?

Will having my keyword in the domain name and the subdomain name hurt my rankings?

I am not asking because I want to know how to optimize it, but rather just want to be sure that having the keyword twice will not negatively effect my rankings.

Thanks
Ashley

If you are talking about http://acne-cureDOTCOM/remedy-for-acneDOThtml

Acne Cure being the main keyword for your site and "remedy for acne" being your secondary keyword for your subpages. I think it should be alright.

This is assuming that your website is about one single niche. If your site contains information on different niches, then your main keyword should be something more generic.

Yes this is what I mean. THere is one main keyword and then several long tail keyword phrases that use that keyword (or variation of it).

So with like your example it would be....

        howtocureacnebeforeprom.acnecuresonline.com

something like that. Where the main keyword "acne" is in both the domain and the subdomain. So i dont want to put long tail keyword phrases for both, so they are identical, but it is okay to have you main keyword in their twice?

        Thanks
