What Should I Get? co.uk VS .com

Hi there,

I was considering building a new website mainly targeting UK and US countries. I was wondering if I should get a .co.uk or .com?

My concern is if I get .com will my rankings in Google UK be worse? I say this because a lot of my keyword research has been around UK. For this reason, I want to focus most of my initial efforts in ranking well over there. Later on, the US.

In the meanwhile, if I get .co.uk I probably won't have the opportunity ranking in the US serp. Thanks

Best Regards,
Linda Miller

If you plan on building a brand, definitely get both, and redirect the .com address to the .co.uk (or vice versa).

I would always purchase the .com as a matter of course, but the last thing you want is to grow your brand on one and then have someone else (possibly a competitor) later taking advantage of the other TLD.
