Business Direction - I'm Stuck

Over the years I have developed and tried to build on several ideas. Last year I decided I needed to focus my efforts on one single project full time.

I have settled on my rankings project. No, not page rankings. Rankings like you see in sports - power rankings.

I currently have a horrible logo which I threw together in about 15 minutes. The website is plain, boring but functional. Here is the site, feel free to take a look and offer any thoughts. prorankings.com

This is something that I have been working on since 2001. I have developed a really unique system that allows me to rank just about anything. I have also had success processing very large numbers. One of my projects involved ranking from #1 all the way down to to #35,000 - which updated weekly with realistic results.

At this point in time I am stuck. I am not sure how to turn this project into an actual business. There are many opportunities including direct advertising for popular pro sports pages, and a subscription service for those want our service for their projects or events.

I am currently working on one partnership opportunity with a very large sports website. Which is why I need to hurry up and get my act together.

Over the years I have dabbled in Internet Marketing and created small niche and affiliate sites. Those experiences have taught me a couple things about myself.
  • I hate writing. It was taking me 90 minutes to write a simple 500 word article.
  • I have no interest, skill or talent for creating or modifying websites
I need to focus on my talents and let others do the things I am not interested in or good at. As an example, I have zero interest in re-learning the newest seo strategies. My time is better spent developing my product.

What I am considering is commissioning or licensing out my services to one or more people who are capable of marketing and selling the product/service. Perhaps turning over my entire brand/website over to someone who has the experience and interest in web development and marketing. I am willing to give up a large percentage of the revenue.

Perhaps I can license to someone who keeps 100% of the revenue they generate and pay me a fee for the actual services I render.

Is there a better way to go? Any thoughts? I love brainstorming.

It seems like you have a lot of things going on. Remember that you only got 2 hands, so you might as well find talented people who can help you with your business efforts. There are freelancers that you can hire @ oDesk or Elance.

Start building a product. If you have nothing to sale you can't make any money. If you won't write, rebuild your website, you need to outsource it. And if you have the money great.

Do you have any feedback at all from your visitors as to what they may want as a service or product?

Thanks all for the input. I'll start looking for freelancers to get some of the little stuff fixed up.

I'll have to give it some more thought on how to proceed with the bigger stuff.
