Do you use OnlyWire.com for your blog?

Warriors, I have just signed up to OnlyWire to automate my social bookmarking for my blog posts. I notice that Digg is one of the sites on it that it submits to. Do you actually Digg your own blog articles when you post a new one? I've heard that is against Digg's rules.

I was just curious if I should do that or not when using OnlyWire or not.

Thanks!

Never heard of OnlyWire before. Hmm. I will check it out. Thanks!

BTW Yeah I think digging your own stuff is against their rules(Heard it somewhere else)...

No it isn't against digg's rules. Stumbleupon is the only site I know of that doesn't like it but even then you can do it up to 15 times before they cancel the account. It has been years since I've read the site submit details so I could be wrong now. Feel free to straighten it out if I am.

OnlyWire is awesome. My partner runs a popular entertainment news site, and after we installed OnlyWire and started using it on every post, the traffic almost doubled. Can't say if that was directly caused by OnlyWire, but I'd have to imagine it helped. The site also went from PR2 to PR4 very quickly.

But, he doesn't use it for Digg or for Twitter. He finds that both of those need a bit more of a personal touch, so those ones get done manually.

  • Onlywire is great, but I use socialmarker. It works great with Firefox.

Anyway, there is no problem digging your own blog posts. Just dont go crazy. Just in the past two weeks I have dug around 30 of my sites. For these sites, I only dug the main page. For my bigger content blogs, I usually digg one blog post per day from each blog.

I have never had any problems doing this. But, I have heard of people being banned. Digg is a tool, dont abuse it.

I bookmark my own posts on Autopilot...but I use Auto Social Poster (ASP) because you can load it up with Scuttle sites and BLAZE up a forest-fire of backlinks.

Pretty much you're only limited to the number of Scuttle and Scuttle Plus sites you can find...and make accounts for.

If you have Bookmarking Demon you can create these accounts VERY fast once you load the Scuttle site into the software.

socialposter guy myself but I'm liable to check out onlywire soon.

I've not heard of anyone getting banned from stumble or digg for bookmarking their own stuff. As long as you also digg/ stumble other stuff and your account doesn't look like a feed of exclusively your blogs/sites, you're fine doing that.

  • It's funny. We are all giving this guy advice on what social bookmarking tool we use - and that is not even his question

It's amazing how much weight a TITLE holds when we are forming our responses to threads, huh?

I believe that I - and a few others - did answer his question as quoted in red above, or are we missing something hidden within the subtle subtext of OP's initial post?

Oh, please do excuse... OP, when using Onlywire I've not heard of anyone getting banned from stumble or digg for bookmarking their own stuff. As long as you also digg/ stumble other stuff and your account doesn't look like a feed of exclusively your blogs/sites, you're fine doing that.

As an aside, did you not get your morning coffee or something?

I have used Onlywire and it works. But I can't get it to work with the automated Onlywire Submitter plugin for Wordpress. Until I can sort that out I'll keep using SocialBot, which is a good autosubmitter (you just have to enter some captchas when they pop up - or you can exclude those sites).

To answer your original question. Yes, you will get banned from Digg for submitting too much of your own stuff.

Some steps to take to help you keep from getting banned:

            1. Make sure you don't have the URL that you are submitting in your profile.
            2. Only have one account -- you will also get banned for multiple accounts from the same IP especially if you are Digg'ing all the same stuff.
            3. Submit other people's content and keep submissions of your sites down to 5-10% of your total submissions.
            4. If your site is Internet marketing or network marketing, your best bet is to stay away from Digg, they hate marketers.

Yes, I do use OnlyWire. I hate social bookmarking so I use sites like that and social marker to cut down on time. Eventually I'll probably outsource this duty.
