How important are profile backlinks?

Hi everyone, a lot has changed with SEO recently. We know backlinks still play a big part in SERP positioning.

Are links from profile pages still that important?

    Back link is always important in the field of SEO, there is no doubt about it. I think it is still working good. some sites follow the Do-follow link & some follow the No-follow link. In this case the Do-follow link works more & more than the No-follow link. Thanks a lot.

      You are correct but does it matter where the link is coming from? Editorial, profile or comment links ?

    They will diversify your link strategy
    They can bring you more traffic
    but probably will not make any major change in your SERP Position unless there is really low competition

    They are, but their priority has changed - if you get a backlink from CNN it's going to immediately skyrocket your page's value, however if you get links from random pages it's not going to do much.

    Also, it's timing - if you suddenly get a bunch of backlinks from PR 4 or under quickly it's not going to do much, but if you rapidly get backlinks ranging all over (including 6 or 7), Google views that as high quality, because it's random, but also backlinks that are unlikely to be faked.

    If you've seen the "reader" in Safari, web pages know which content is what - links outside the main body of content don't count for much, unless they're sitewide links.
