Can I use my friends picture for marketing video?

Hi;

I used to garden with my friend. We are no longer friends. Can I use our old pictures we took together planting?

This is just for sales copy web page and videos (not the part of the program itself).

    If he does not claim the photos to be secret. Go on...

    If you own the rights to the picture I don't see why not While ethically it would be nice to at least to have a verbal authorization from the friend legally I don't believe in this case it would needed.

    I don't see any wrong if you'll be using it as long as you own the rights of those photos by all means use it! But as l1one mentioned, it would be nicer if you'll let your friend know that you'll be using those photos, out of respect.

    Anyway, it won't brake your bone reaching out to an old friend of yours, right?

    No problem at all, but let your friend now at least so he/she won't be surprised when he sees it on the internet

    I would talk to your friend and ask them for written permission.

    You don't want to wake up one day noticing that your old friend just sued you. It is better to be safe then sorry.

    I agree^

    You should definitely ask for permission.
    Regardless of whether your friendship ended on good terms or bad, if you 2 are no longer friends, he might get really upset if you use his 'face' without his permission, it's a violation of his privacy and it's not OK.

      I am not a lawyer,

      but I believe that talfighel and Slade are absolutely right. You should get written permission from your former friend before you use his/her image to market your video. Maybe in some countries it doesn't matter, I don't know.

      Wouldn't you want to be contacted if the situation was reversed? I know I would.
