Question about Sales Page Template Download

So far I have dealt with basic home made sales page, and that was sufficient for me. But now I have created my OWN full e-Book and would like a very professional looking sale page.

I have downloaded several sales page templates, but once I did and unzipped the folder, I am left with the templates beats and pieces, unable to edit them, like I am supposed to. What Am I missing?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

We cannot tell what are you missing without knowing what kind of templates did you download. Were they sales page templates for WordPress, for example? For those you need a WP blog installed...

Why cannot you edit them? Can you be more specific?

Well, I've tried different things, but they all give me the same problem. One was supposed to be for wordpress, but apparently it's not working. I tried to FTP it to my wordpress blog, but the theme won't show.

Another one is fond at the mini site gallery. Can't give you the url, couse this forum won't let me LOL! (under 15 posts). I downloaded one of the templates there, but then duh!! what's next?... can't figure it out.

Yes, I know about the limitation when you are new. You can, however, post a link like example dot com.

As for the original question: a sales page template will not sell your book. The copy will sell it. Do you have the sales copy written? If it is good, you can put it on a white page and it will work

Hi Sylviane and welcome to the forum.

If you arn't used to do anything like this, why don't you have your page done professionally. You could get a very decent quote from either someone here at the forum or by posting the job on rentacoder.

One of the secrets of success in IM (I think anyway) is to outsource the stuff you don't know about to those who do

    Good luck with it

    Hi Sylviane,

Templates are templates and you can spend more time trying to make something simple fit and look good than you could just giving it to someone to create.

I do premium (high end) sales page design and layouts for many famous and under-the-radar web gurus, corporations and entrepreneurs. The difference in return on investment is measurable and substantial. A very well WRITTEN sales page with crappy or average design will do a good job for you, but a well written, well designed sales page will legitemize your business on a much wider level, bringing in more JV partners, companies and leads. Plus you can raise your rates because your perceived value is higher.

PM me and I'll send you some samples and rates if you're interested.

Thank you so much for all your replies. I have to admit that I have thought about just each reply that I've got here, but hearing it from others makes it easier to make a decision.

You, see I love to learn stuff that are a bit above my head, so later on I can feel real good about it. However, as you guys mention here, I don't want to waste too much time doing something I don't know much about, and I'd rather have my sales page going.

I of course know that the copy is THE important stuff here, but at the same time I just want to make my page attractive enough, without being flashy! Hate flashy get me things

So, Thanks again guys. Your feed backs really helped.

You are most likely missing the .psd files. These files are for editing the graphics in photoshop (example: changing the header from "Your Site Name" to "My Super Cool Ebook") if the image files you have are .jpg it will be hard editing them.

The content can be changed with a html editor like NVU.

Remember when you save your .psd's after editing them, save them for web and devices (an option in the file menu in photoshop) then you exchange the graphics in the template img files with your edited graphics and rename them to the name they have in the template img file.

It is hard to explain the entire process in a small thread, there is a WSO running right now I just saw it it's a video series for minisite design, it looks like it will cover all of the info you need and it's less than 30 dollars. They even show you the sample site you will be creating in the thread.

I dont know the OP but it looks like good content for you.

    Edit

I just went and looked for the WSO again, here is a link for it. Hope this helps you. Also Ben Pei in the warrior services thread has super prices for designing mini-sites, he's working on some banners, ecovers, and a new logo for me. He's easy to work with and has an eye for design.
