Selling a tangible product over the phone

Over 20 years ago I used to sell inexpensive products over the phone ($50 or less). My question is with the advent of the internet and websites can a person still sell an inexpensive product over the phone with a ONE CALL CLOSE and if so how?

are you looking to get leads from the internet to then close on the phone?

No. Straight cold calls from a list, phone book, etc. Also years ago I used a phone dialer that delivered a pre-recorded message and it worked. Are they still effective?

If there was one person who I believe that could answer your question it would be fellow member Claude Whitacre.

You have no country listed nor do you say where your target market was located.

The problem you have in the US is the do-not-call list. Most people I know are on that list and calling them as you described can lead to expensive penalties as they violate the law.

I'm in the U.S. and I know there are many residential phones on the Do Not Call list but what about businesses? What do you think is the best way

I imagine it could still work. The problem is the decrease of lan lines and the advent of cell phones. You definitely do not want to cold call someone on their cell in hopes of getting a sale. With that said, there probably are still enough lan lines to make it plausible, for now. My two cents!
