Hi Guys

I have a book written by my brother which is now listed on Amazon. I ran a promotion yesterday until 11th and had 4 free downloads. The aim is to get reviews. Any suggestions?

Thanks

    What's the book about?
    Target market?
Typical person who might buy it?
Paperback (Createspace) and Kindle or just Kindle?
    Available elsewhere?
    Have you a related blog?
    Is the cover/description/title good?
Where are you active in social media?
Are you a member of any social bookmarking sites for books?
Did you tweet/post in Facebook about your freebie?
Did you contact freebie giveaway sites?
Did you run the giveaway over the weekend?
Did you create an event on Facebook/Twitter/Goodreads or Google Plus for your giveaway?

Things have changed in the Kindle market lately.

Gone are the days when you will publish a book and it get seen by lots of people without lifting a finger.

There are a few things you can do to get moving:

    1. Create trailer videos optimized for your keywords and upload to YouTube.

    2. At the end of your book it's important to remind customers to review your book if they love it. This will really go a long way if you have an intriguing book.

    3. Don't forget to sort out relevant keywords for your book and optimize your kindle for them.

    4. Search for book websites receiving good volume of traffic daily and see how they can allow you to make a guest post or ads placement for a little fee.

    5. Create a social media presence and promote you book there. Join book groups and promote your fan page.

The idea is to get continuous sales coming in and good reviews that will help you gain and maintain a top ranking for your genre.

There are a lot more you can do. It's just not enough to create a book and publish it anymore.

Facebook posting, twitter, directory submissions, good reads. There's a lot of strategies you can use. After sometime of doing manual tasks which takes a lot of time, I now use http://www.kbookpromotions.com/richie/. It's a tool that has an option to automate your FB, Twitter posting and even submit to book directory sites automatically. There's also a plugin that allows you to research on keywords if it's profitable or not. Truly worth it. I think there is a free trial so you can try and test it yourself.

There is a great private, indie-writer sub-forum here: The Warrior Book Club. It's run by Bryan Kumar and all the teaching material he provides in the sticky posts and PDFs at the head of the forum are of immense value. Also, Bryan recently posted a special report that shares the details of how one of his students has taken the lessons in the training, combined a few of the strategies, and is pulling in around $5k per month from just 5 books.

Also, separate from this sub-forum, another Warrior, Nick Stephenson, recently gave away a great 31 page PDF linked to a free video course titled 'Your First 10,000 Readers'. His strategies for promoting your books actually follow what I'm already doing and take it a whole lot further.

Throughout the WF there are several ways you can alert fellow members to a book launch, but to be honest, no one forum or group is going to provide you with enough exposure. I have a huge list of forums, Twitter accounts, Facebook groups, plus several paid websites I contact whenever I have a launch or promotion.

This thread has some awesome advice, thanks to everyone who posted! I have one kindle book I wrote and uploaded to KDP in sep. 2014, it got about 4000 downloads during my five days of free promotion then went to about 120,000 rank in all of kindle. I was getting 3-4 sales a week at .99 and had a couple reviews, but I made the mistake of raising the price to 2.99 too soon and sales tanked along with my rank, I think its at around 1 million ranking now lol. I put that project on the back burner while working on my niche site.
Great advice and thanks to everyone for posting it. I'll definitely come back to this thread when I'm ready to spend some time promoting.

There are many ways to promotion. You can use the Social media site & blog site. To increase your sell, you can make a discount offer for a limited time. it may a good way. If your book is really good, of course your review will goods also. No doubt about it. Best of luck.
