I don't think there are many people who have real experience with viral sites as those 3 are the ones and I don't think the owners would stay on this forum and offer their secrets.

The most you could get are theories.

I'm not sure that will you be able to start a viral site with $1000 investment. Since it's viral, you need information creators, NOT writers.... and they aren't cheap.

What are your main options for monetization?

        • Selling affiliate products / service offers and / or your own products / service offers to a mailing list of subscribers?

        • Earning revenues from ad clicks, paid ad placements and video / banner ad views?

        • Generating revenues from CPA offers like PPI (Pay Per Install) applications and PPD (Pay Per Download) content?

        • Generating leads for other companies / businesses?

        • Other monetization strategies?

I think those are relevant things that can effect your plans for building a site, for creating content, for formulating and executing offsite and onsite campaigns (free and paid), all designed to attract and profit from viral social traffic ...

                FXStay,

Yeah, the only way you can do is improve the possibility of getting viral social traffic (Keyword: Possibility) by:

                • Targeting a specific audience that habitually goes online so as to search, view, buy, share, write and talk about certain news stories, topics, solutions,, products, hobbies and so on that are related to what they presently want ...

                • Knowing exactly what they currently want, what they currently need, where they're going, what they're currently searching for, what they're currently watching and reading and listening to and looking at, what they're currently buying, what they're currently sharing and writing and talking about ...

                • Pinpointing exactly what's already out there, what can distract them from paying attention to your content, products and solutions, and what you have that can't be found elsewhere ...

                • Striking a balance between the relevant online and offline habits of your target audience and your monetization plans, content creation strategies, content placement techniques, traffic generation and conversion tactics ...

That simply means it isn't all about your content nor where you advertise it nor how much money you spend -- It's an overall campaign; and

With an overall campaign -- You could just possibly increase your chances of hitting your intelligent projections based on your overall campaign plan that's strategically formulated using timely (and hopefully accurate) data, and can never expect to be guaranteed of any specific traffic nor conversion result ...

    Fxstay,

I think you have the wrong idea about "viral sites."

You don't buy your way into a viral site. You don't designate your site as being viral. A site goes viral when a lot of people find something compelling, or interesting, or "share worthy." It's not your call . . . it's your audience and web browsers that come to your site that will make it go viral.

First and foremost, you need to have a web site that is going to appeal to the right crowd and you need to have content that many people will want to share. Spending $1,000/month on your site is no guarantee at all that people are going to share your site or your content.

You don't get to decide. There's a very good chance you will waste all your money on marketing your site - trying to make it go viral - if it doesn't contain high quality content, appealing content, and share-worthy content.
