Seeking Warriors Advice

Happy Sunday to all warriors,

Thank you for checking my post, It been a while since I posted in here most likely because I have been hitting my head against the wall a lot lately

I have been running a cash back website over the last few as many of you may already know. The website have been doing well until mid of last year when our sales jumped of the cliff and as I have tried everything I can think of to get back on track, I am sure I am missing something.

For those who may not know what cash back website is, the easiest way to describe it, loyalty program that pay people some of the money they spend back when they shop online.

In mid of last year, i decided to change our business model from giving back our full commission to the user to 50% ( huge cut ) but was necessary. So if someone shop at Best Buy and we got commission we break it into 50 / 50 instead of giving it 100% back. The main reason behind the change was launching our affiliate program, I realized most of our sales are coming from referrals (not ads), so i wanted to build a powerful affiliate program where our referee get 25% for life. instead of one time referral. While that was the main reason we were affected, google search results also declined rapidly ( not sure what google did, we were not punished or anything ) it is just our keyword ranking kept sinking to page 2 and 3 ( ouch ), tried varies SEO service, while they could make few improvement, they haven't cracked it or get us back where were in beginning of 2014

While the program launch was good, but we still struggling with sales. I doubled our PPC budget (spent few thousands on google adwords) and even got help from adwords consultant to improve the conversion. Spent good budget on varies methods .

The bottom line is our sales are still declining, even though our program has passed 3000 partners world wide ( more stores for users to shop at )

Now, i am in the level where I am actually re-funding the project. I am putting 5 Digits budget to either make it or break it and while i keep jumping on ideas of how to move forward, I am not sure I am moving in the right direction, I am launching an offline campaign, and trying to push harder the affiliate programs ( just launched another Pay per lead.

I am considering varies options ( I am confused of even how I am going against this ), re-design the website to be responsive, launching mobile app, hiring more help to do offline / managing the affiliate , and even more campaign ( pay per post , increase our pay per lead cost ),

I can tell I am at a point where I am not thinking clearly about the next step but I guess we all get there sometimes when we are putting too much time and effort in something.

I would highly appreciate other warriors feedback and sorry for the long post

I'm sure once you tweak and improve the sales conversions then you can scale it up with PPC.

As you can see that relying on SEO for search engine rankings for traffic generation is not the scalable solution for your business. PPC is scalable and should be where most of your online advertising budget is spent.

Do you farm your list of subscribers for repeat business, are your customers repeat buyers? Is there away that you can increase your subscribers spending value in your business? We all already know by now it's easier to convert an existing buyer/customer/client to a sale than a new prospect.

Yes, I have a news letter where I send them special offer ( like doubling their rebate on # of stores for period of time to make sure web bring sales in ), It get us additional sales. But taking into consideration the fact that we have thousands of subscribers, I would say we are not getting the most out of it.

I have no doubt search engine are not the most reliable way for traffic, and while i give it weights I don't relay on it.

Here's the Checklist I would use

    1) Figure out where most of your FREE traffic is coming from

    2) Analyze the audience of those free traffic sources

    3) Identify influential people from those traffic sources and ally with them - this can mean freebies, incentives

    4) Share content with those influential people and ask them to spread the word

These techniques apply to both social media and forums

The key is to focus on BRAND BUILDING to cast a WIDE NET of FREE TRAFFIC
