How can I monetize this Caribbean food website?

Guys,

Im developing a new website; CaribbeanFood.com .

All recipes are unique and we buy High Quality images as well. Currently, Im just thinking of the best way to monetize it!
We are building an opt-in list, also trying to promote it on Facebook a little. Just launched a few weeks ago and planning to have at least a 1,000 recipes within 12 months.

The problem is, by then we will have paid like $15,000 into content, images and so on... We must have at least 100K uniques by then!

right now, only 2 weeks up, we have like 20 uniques a day...

How can I make this feasible, with this I mean to reach one day a $2K/month profit form this site (mid-long term).

Thanks a lot in advance

Others did this book idea, but I dont think that they sold more than 2,000 copies when having 50K visitors a month! I dont know if this could make it feasible?

    Hi auditt...

Being in the caribbean at the moment I had to drop into your thread to check out your website and those recipes gave me a mouth watering experience lol.

Have you checked out other top recipe sites to see how they monetize?

Depending on your target audience... I suggest a training section on your site with in the kitchen training videos on how to prepare specialized dishes.

I also suggest placing the optin form on your website... give a way a free guide.. 10 must have seasonings for an authentic caribbean flavour or something.

    Open a restaurant!

    Food truck.

Recipe niche, don't know if we are going to have a whole lot of people with their wallets out there. Exhausting eBook possibilities, options to teach via a video - recipe of the month is taught via video (is anyone a chef?) for $3.99 recurring per month (pick a $ figure)

    Fair bit of testing ahead!

Thanks a lot. Im glad some people here liked the site.
At the moment, Its a bit unclear how to really monetize it...
Also, at a 100K unique visitors a month (suppose we reach that figure), can we easily get $2,000 per month?

    Nice site.

You can do catering services locally.

Same time, you can publish a book (hard copy) and sell it in Tourist places. Tourists love to buy Jamaican recipes books.

One more thing: Don't add baking powder in Rotis. It makes rotis hard and brittle. Difficult to chew.

Just find out who the authority site is for your niche and just reverse engineer it. I'm guessing it's combination of Adsense, Sponsorships ads, and Product offers

Unless your monetization is completely terrible, earning $2k a month should come much sooner than 100k visitors a month. You could make more than that by monetizing solely with Adsense, if you know what you're doing and the keywords aren't terribly low CPC.

One obvious monetization option is to simply sell the recipes in ebook format. An ebook full of 1000 recipes (or even just 100 really) could easily sell for $19.95 on your website. You could also publish them on Amazon but their ebooks tend to sell for lower prices.

As far as other monetization options, I can't imagine that "food recipes" is super easy to monetize. However, you might be able to fit in some sort of "weight loss" program to sell as an affiliate, since food recipes might be somewhat related to that niche and weight loss is always a seller.

Get in touch with restaurants for their localized ads. Make the website free for the users. That will give you a large audience.
