1st Affiliate Sale And I Didn't Even See it Coming

I'm very pleased to report that I just made my first affiliate sale. The funny thing is, I didn't even see it coming.

Back in April I was looking for a work at home job, so I signed up with a company called Disciple's Cross. It's a legit home business where you make these little crosses that you can either sell back to the company or sell on your own for a bigger profit. Truth be told, I got the kit and had a hard time making the crosses, so I sent the kit back to the company for a refund. I do think the business is legit, just not for me, as I'm not the best crafter.

After going on WAHM I read a lot about their affiliate program and how people were making good money off of it. I had never done affiliate marketing before, but an extra $70 a week sounded good (that's about the average I got from everyone who talked about it). So I signed up, put up a Squidoo lense and started writing some articles. I think I submitted less than 10 articles to Ezinearticles and GoArticles before I got fed up and quit. I didn't know much about affiliate marketing back then and was expecting to get rich quick, I suppose. Anyways, the moral of the story is that I dropped the campaign. After a month I didn't even bother to check the website anymore to see if I made anything. I thought it was a lost cause.

Today when I was cleaning out my inbox I found the e-mail with my affiliate id and password and thought "what the hell, I'll check it out. I know there's not going to be anything in there." Low and behold, I had made a sale . . . actually only 2 days ago. Not bad for a few hours of work that I did 3 months ago that I completely dismissed and forgot about. Proof that affiliate marketing actually pays off.

Sorry to make this so long, just thought I'd share everything. Some people say that their first sale made them ecstatic, some don't feel anything at all. Luckily I feel on the ecstatic side. Very motivated. It's been a great week for me as far as internet marketing goes, on so many levels.

Heh, I just checked out my Clickbank account last week after two or three months and found I'd made another sale from an article I wrote in January. A nice surprise, that. I'm sort of amazed that I get the occasional straggler sale from that niche, because I did a whopping four articles that weren't keyword researched and don't rank anywhere in the SERPs.

Yeah, that's the funny thing. None of my articles were keyword researched either. I wrote them all before I really knew what keyword research was. Oddly enough, the articles I wrote for this particular product have gotten far more views than any keyword researched and optimized articles I've ever written. It's a wonder.

Thank you to everyone who has responded and congratulated me. Hopefully the success will continue.

Congrats!..If you could sell an obscure thing like cross making kits, I imagine you would do great if you wrote articles and reviews for the top selling clickbank products....the key is numbers and scale....pick more products...write more reviews....things will fall into place....best of luck!

Congrats on your first sale. I still remember my own and know that it's a great feeling. This shows that it works but you have to stick to it and be persistent.

I know how you feel. I've come across payments for promotions I've done such a long time ago that I've already forgotten about them. :-)

It's real good to have these "found money" every now and then. Keep up the good work, and remember to come back here and share more of your success stories with us!

That's funny! I did some article marketing in the reverse telephone niche and after a few weeks of faithfully checking my CB acct (kind of like picking up the phone to see if there is a dial tone when you are expecting a call), I gave up.

Fast Forward 3 months and I logged in and saw I had $43 bucks! My first big payday online. Now all I have to do is get some more sales so I can shake the money loose.

Congrats. I've been in IM for a couple of months and made my first sale this week on a campaign I started last week. It's only one but it's a start. If you're looking for direction I'd suggest checking out the links in my sig. I'm a Wealthy Affiliate member and it's the best thing I've done for myself. The second is a course created by a fellow WA member. He walks you step by step through creating a campaign. I own and use the course myself. It's VERY helpful. Keep on, keepin' and best of luck to you.

I did and I thought that was where you were supposed to put them. I see the same thing(or at least it appears to b in the posts of others. I'll go back and look and see where I'm going wrong.

Okay, I found it. I had gone through the FAQs and didn't see anything. Seeing links in the sigs of others caused me to think it was cool. I zapped them. It wasn't my intent to violate the forum rules. I'd hate to get kicked out for unintentionally doing so. Thanks for letting me know I was making a big no-no. :-)

I just laid you a thanks but I also wanted to do it in "person". I've been on here awhile and I'm surprised that nobody has said anything. I'm glad you did. Thanks again. It's much appreciated.

Hey guys, I don't mean to bump this topic, but I'm so excited and I didn't want to make another topic.

I just got my second sale on the same product. I can't believe it. Only a week from the first sale and I haven't even been promoting this.

By the way, this was all done with bum marketing, submitting only a few articles to Ezinearticles and throwing up a Squidoo page that I don't even look at anymore. Freaking amazing. Just thought I'd share.

Congrats. I do Bum Marketing myselfbut I don't use Squidoo. I get a top level domain and do a redirect to my affiliate link for the product I'm promoting. Good luck on many more sales.

I remember when I had a similar experience. I finally felt all the work I put into my sites finally paid off... some years later. That was an awesome feeling.
