Making Money With Amazon? For Real?

Hello,

I've been reading threads about how people starting out should set up a website and then promote Amazon products as an affiliate marketer. Does this really work or are people just interested in selling you their plugin, etc.?

I mean, if I started to do this today, how long would it take before I made say $100 a month?

Thanks...

No one can credibly tell you how long it will take you to make $100/month. You should know that, especially when people on the forum don't know what you're selling, how much traffic you get, what commissions are, what kind of conversion rate you have, etc.

Why not set things up today, start driving traffic, and in 30 days you'll have a pretty good idea!

As Steve suggested, it's simply impossible to answer that question accurately.

What I can tell you, though (to give you peace of mind) is that it IS possible to make money with this method, yes. It just depends on too many factors and how you promote the business.

So go ahead and give it your very best shot, because that's the only way you'll know.

The plugin you are talking about is for setting up astore.

Yeah, some people have recorded some level of success with it
but i personally don't find it funny because the plugin creates
plagiarism all over the net that's why i go for Amazon review stores.

And yes indeed, if you pick the right product and promote your site
in the right areas like organic traffic, video, social network you will
    make over $100 monthly.

If you're going to be promoting products as an affiliate, you should set up a blog on your own domain. Building a list is also a good idea, so you have people that you can promote products to over and over, again. You should do this regardless of the niche you're in or the network you're using. $100 a month isn't a lot and totally do-able. When it comes to Amazon, you should not only be promoting the main item but cross promoting stuff as well.

For instance, let's say you want to promote a video game. Well, it would also be a good idea to promote a console to play it on as well as related accessories like a headset, a chair, and so on. The cool thing is that you know what sells well because of how people rate it (and the fact that Amazon tells you what similar stuff people buy). When a person buys something on Amazon via you as an affiliate, you get commissions across the board for everything they purchase.

What you've heard is not unreal. It is very much possible to earn such revenue. However, a lot of things go on to take you to that level. You must be willing to put in the effort. It is not like you build a website and money will keep flowing. You need people who are interested in those products to come to your website and read your review and if they find it convincing then they will be buying the product. Most people searching for product reviews are already interested in the product, they just need some more information before they purchase. So you need to learn the art of bringing targeted traffic to your website. Start on any niche you are interested in so that you don't get bored after one or two days effort.

There are different ways to make money with Amazon so you should do research on YouTube for things like:

how to make money with amazon
how to find a good amazon niche
how to search for amazon products
how to build an amazon site
how to make an amazon review site
    etc

YouTube and Google are excellent for this.

The benefit of an authority blog or review site is you can fill it with targeted keywords and longtail keywords to rank in Google and get search traffic. Lot's of amazon niches are wide open for ranking.

I built a little review site with a simple theme and average to short reviews (less than 1,000 words) and barely touched it after the first 20 or so posts, but it still ranks middle of page 1 in Google with many #1 spots for "product name review".

You can find other Amazon affiliate sites by Googling:
"is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program"
    or
"is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program" + keyword

It takes work and time to build up traffic but Amazon converts very well and in many niches you can still build "set and forget" websites.

A site built with a store plugin or autopost plugin that scrapes Amazon is not likely to rank in Google without serious seo. Those sites are better to send paid traffic or social traffic to. Say post cool pictures on Pinterest and link to your store. Or use facebook and twitter.

  • It really depends on you. You can promote thousand dollar products or 1$ products. You making 100$ a month and the length of time it takes you to get there ultimately depends on how much knowledge you have and action you take to do it.

It take some people days to make 100$ a month and other months to years to do that. Only you can answer your question.

This is just one method many suggest as a starting point for those wanting to break into affiliate marketing. They suggest this because it does work. But, as already mentioned, there are a lot of factors that go into whether YOU will be successful with it or not but the business model is sound.

I expect that I do not know a single person who has not bought something on Amazon. For many it is the first place they think of when they need to make a purchase. There is a HUGE amount of business conducted on their site every day.

You can make very good money as an Amazon affiliate, selling kindle books or running an FBA selling business. Whatever business model you decide on keep following it and you will be successful.

If you wanna be successful with Amazon you're better off promoting more expensive products, 100 dollars or more. The low commission rate doesn't really encourage you to sell low cost products, unless you're getting loads of traffic onto your site I'd stay away from promoting cheap products.

My very first website I made, which is still up and running, promotes cheap products but gives me very little in profit because of the low commission combined with the cheap products... Go figure.

Your best option is picking a niche where you sell products that are both cheaper and more expensive. For instance sell Wii games and The wii platform in the same store.

If you want a number of days or months it will take to make $100 per month with Amazon then I would say it takes 1-3 months. This would be a good estimate but this doesnt take into the account of what your niche is, the competition, and the overall popularity of your niche. But in general, I would say that if you know how to do product and keyword research, you know how to pick out a good domain name, I would suggest an aged authority domain, and you have a content strategy then for sure you can make $100. The idea of making money with Amazon is not fake, its the largest online retail store in the world, and they pay out millions to affiliates. But yes you do need to be careful in what shiny objects you purchase because lots of times its just re-hashed info that you already know.

My suggestion is to go for it, put the pedal to the floor and dont look back. Once you stop the shiny object syndrom, you WILL make $100 per month.

    Cheers

You'd get $100 per month from selling a dozen or so medium prices items (around $100). That's three a week. It doesn't sound like much but nowadays, it takes a lot of effort and skill to get your site ranking well enough to get steady organic traffic. That's especially so for competitive items.

Ultimately, the only way to see if it's possible for you is to get started. You don't need any expensive plugins in begin. What you need is determination and the ability to carry on through those long days without sales.

You can either make good money with this if you work hard enough, or you can have no sales whatsoever, things can go either way. And the only way you'll know if it works for you is if you try. I suggest you start by writing honest reviews, build trust with your visitors and hope that in time you'll start selling.

Arranged reasonable targets intended for profits. You have just invested $20. You will produce 5% of all items. Meaning that you need to market $400 really worth connected with goods to create rear your investment. You have credit rating intended for other acquisitions clients anyone mail produce while on Amazon besides merely the item anyone connected to, so it will be less hard as it might sound. It's not going to allow you to rich, but it's not hard to become successful.

Building review sites etc. is a total waste of time if you want to build a real business that's sustainable and scalable. Sure, some get lucky (usually temporarily) and make a few bucks with affiliate marketing, but I've seen about a 90% failure rate over the years among those taking on "affiliate marketing" as a biz model.

If you ever hang out with a bunch of "affiliate marketers" at a conference you'll notice that only about 5% of them are making any money...and several among that 5% will also have a course to sell you about how to do it.

      Create real value online instead.

Google the phrase, "affiliate marketing is not a business" to see my article on the topic on my blog.

That phrase isn't mine by the way -one of the all time top earning affiliate marketers on the planet said that quote years ago, and I agree with him.

If you want to make money on Amazon (a great place to start!), then I suggest you learn to sell on Amazon FBA. It's great for newbies, and I've seen thousands of success stories at this point. Your odds of success are fantastic if you put in a bit of work.

Please remember, this answer is from someone whose main source of income is from selling a course on how to sell on amazon. He really knows his stuff as I have his book.

But, if this question is answered by Gaz Cooper, Sojourn, and a few others, you would get a totally different answer.

I agree with your figures, BUT these percentages apply to EVERY online endeavor, not just affiliate marketing. Online businesses of any kind, product creation, service providers - most people who are doing anything online to make money are failing to make money.

And imo, if you can't make money with affiliate marketing (I'm not talking about making a big income, but making some sales - promoting effectively), you likely can't make money doing anything else either, because the requirements for creating your own successful online business (products/services, etc..), are higher than promoting someone's product that is already successful and proven to make sales.

Affiliate marketing is a good starting point for most, and in most cases it is the best way to learn the ropes of IM before starting an online business, even if not much money is made, if at least some money is made, it's worth doing initially.

A truly brilliant point (I'm impressed!) - and I mostly agree if we are factoring in human nature. SO few people will do the work required to succeed. But with the biz models I choose, there's far less risk (none) of it all vanishing overnight with a google algorithm adjustment. Also - I would argue that the 5% rule is more like 75% if someone does the work on the biz models I use. That's just not the case with affiliate income. There are too many factors stacked against you....which leads me to your second point...

Originally Posted by Joan Altz View Post

I disagree on this one and I know a lot of very successful online entrepreneurs who would disagree strongly as well about aff income being a good place for "newbies". I wish we could do a survey and find out, but I suspect (after 12 years of hanging with all manner of successful entrepreneurs online) that my instincts are pretty spot on here. I myself spent a few YEARS spinning in circles with affiliate income models and never made more than a couple hundred dollars in a month working HARD and doing all the stuff the big boys tell you to do! I switched over to selling physical products (on eBay and then Amazon etc.) and it was OFF TO THE RACES. My biz has grown every quarter for 10 years (and I don't touch box tape).

I'm also a huge fan of the offline model (selling online services to traditional businesses etc.). Finally, I'm all about growing a large following around one or a handful of passionate niche audiences...and I'm doing a lot of that as well...

          Final point:

Nothing personal at all, but you won't find a lot of people leaving my community seeking out affiliate income opportunities. The flow of traffic into my community form the aff marketing world though is undeniable evidence of the direction people head when they get frustrated by hard work producing no results.

I agree that Amazon review sites are a waste of time, but I really don't see how an Amazon FBA store is going to do any better. To my way of thinking the problem isn't the monetization method, it's the complete lack of creativity and attention to bringing value to the user.

The thing is, you absolutely can make money -- and a lot of it -- as an Amazon affiliate. I do! Or better yet, look at a site like GoodReads which was so successful as an affiliate that Amazon actually bought them for over $150 million. But obviously GoodReads is far, far, far from your typical Amazon review site. It actually brought something unique to the marketplace and did it extremely well.

The point is, a site like GoodReads did well as an Amazon affiliate, but they also would have done well with Amazon FBA or with many other monetization methods. Clearly given their core competencies, customers, etc. certain monetization methods were better for maximizing profit -- but there wouldn't have been any profit if the services they delivered weren't top notch.

Too many people focus too much on the monetization method. Yes, it's an important part of a business model; but it's only a part of a business model and not even the most important one.

There's a big key factor that makes success on Amazon FBA FAR more likely for a newbie than any type of "affiliate marketing" adventure.

          It's this simple:

Amazon is swarming with buyers who are ready to spend money.

          whereas...

The pretty review website you build while following step-by-step instructions from a "guru" will launch on day one with zero traffic.

That's a significant difference - and it's why so many newbie FBA sellers are doing so well so fast.

LOL - Sorry guys, but I'm SMH in disbelief that "review sites" are still a thing! The debate on that overdone, valueless strategy was settled years ago I thought, but if you want to take a shot at being on page one of google by reviewing products you know nothing about, go for it. Who knows...you might make a few bucks - I hope you do, but odds are your never will.

You CAN be sure of one thing though and that's this:

You WILL wake up one day and your site will be on page 439 of google...if they don't kill it altogether. Have fun chasing the randomized, always changing, always improving, funded by BILLIONS Google algorithm that is designed to do ONE thing and ONE thing well and that's this...

Keep crappy review sites (and other "heartless" content off of page one.)

If you want to get your website ranked on Google long term on page one there's only ONE way to do it:

Here's the only SEO "big secret you'll ever need -

Post the best content that other respected experts in the same niche willingly link to from their highly regarded sites. Any other "shortcut", trick, strategy etc. will ultimately fail you and possibly get your site punished in the ranking or banned. Creating junk content that you could ultimately care less about is a waste of your time.

Build something real instead. Create something meaningful. Creatively serve your fellow man and the money will flow.
