Anyone know of a free program that opens zip files? I don't want one online...it has to be something on the computer because I want to open files and sometimes don't have internet when I do.

If you are using Windows, this functionality is built in.

There is also WinRAR that is popular and the external program I use the most for this sort of thing.

I think Winzip and Winrar only allow free trials (I may be wrong) but I use Elite Unzip, never a problem

Which operating system / OS do you use? Some OS have the built in apps, in this case just right click on the .zip file & select the Extract here, then the .zip will be converted to unzip file. On the other hand there are many free offline apps also, you can choose them. Such as winrar or, winzip or something like these.

Actually, if you are on Windows you won't even need to download any third-party software for that. Just right-click on the .zip file, hover on "open with" and select "Windows Explorer"
