Are Your Visitors Down Today?

My sites's visitors are down today by a wide margin. Has anyone else experienced this?

Can't find the real reason for it and can't put it down to not being mobile friendly either since Google update is in another 4 days time I believe.

I've checked all my major keywords rankings and they're all as before and the hosting is ok. So what can it be?

    I didn't notice anything unusual when I checked earlier. If your visits are down by a wide margin, then obviously something is amiss for you, though. No wide-spread reasons come to mind.

      I do it through google analytics - it's more precise for analysis.

    Friday is always a slow day for me and at the moment, it's the Easter school holidays in a lot of places which may or may not affect your traffic.

    Where does most of your traffic come from?

    It's a beautiful, sunny Spring Friday here in the good ole USA.

    I'm on my way out the door myself.

    I've thought about all those possibilities. It just doesn't add up - even when Google put a warning message about one of my sites in SERPS, by mistake I had more traffic than today - I've had no visitors for the past 15 hours which is very out of norm. So I'm really scratching my head now.

    My traffic is wide spread, so this makes it as odd as it is.

      no visitors for 15 hours to a site that was getting traffic sounds more like a tracking issue than a real stop of traffic.

      what do your log files say in your cpanel?

      also, have you checked to make sure your site is really up still and that you are not jsut seeing a cache version on your computer?

      a complete stop in traffic is fairly unlikely...even bots stop by from time to time...lol

      Oh, wow actually... 15 hours with 0 visitors? Like David said, it could be a tracking issue then.

      If you've updated your wp theme or something your tracking code might have been deleted. Check to make sure it's still there, and visit your site through a different device to see if it logs the visit.

    Google's mobile update won't just be a one-hit bang on the day they release it. You better believe it's already slowly being released.

    Search traffic for my sites are increasing everyday these days and I can account that to the mobile update as a lot of the sites in my niche are not mobile friendly.

    You say you can't put it down to the mobile since the update is 4 days away... so I'm guessing your site isn't mobile responsive at the moment?

    I am so sorry, I did not notice this yet. I think everything is going well as before. Thanks for your information.

    @Chris Lee

    My site passes the mobile friendly-test. Also, in the webmaster tools, it has had 0 Mobile Usability errors in the past 10 days.

    @David Keith

    It wasn't a tracking issue - my own visits were logged. As well as I normally access the site via other ip's just to make sure.

    Anyhow, as it happens the site has had some visitors since my last post.
