Selling IM to Local Offline Businesses?

Hi,

There are a few wso's about this and I'm wondering if anyone can give me any reviews, advice on any of them.

I'm basically looking for a blueprint that shows me actual sites that have been sold to offline clients and explains the services that can be sold and how best to attract them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've purchased several of them, and they all have their strong and weak points. Mostly they reflect the strengths of the writers, as far as methodology. Andrew Cavanaugh likes the walk-in-and-chat method. Jamie Garside (GoGetta) likes phone prospecting. Others like public speaking or using social media.

Virtually all of them will give you ideas about services and prices. You still have to fit them into your local market. You can charge a lot more in Manhattan, NYC than you can Manhattan, Kansas.

None of the ones I've seen have the example sites you're seeking. Most local businesses don't need bleeding edge web technology, so being able to take a basic site template or blog them and customize the graphics (on the level of swapping the generic photo of a building with a photo of their building) is usually good enough.

Michael Silvester had a WSO running that showed anyone how to get offline clients without face-to-face time OR cold calling. I'm not sure if he's still offering it.

But before you even get that far, it sounds like you need to decide what you want to do with offline marketing. Your post sounds like you want to sell pre-made Web sites to offline businesses. Is that what you meant?

If so, you might have a hard time. The whole offline idea is to help offline businesses get more clients and customers through online marketing. This requires a fairly customized approach.

However, the rent-a-site model has been discussed and you might be able to do that, but instead of renting out sites, you might sell them instead. Basically, you build a site for a TYPE of businesss (an accountant, a hair salon, a florist, etc.), build a basic Web site, show it to the client and tell them that you'll customize it with their info, SEO it, etc for them if they choose to buy/rent it.

If that's what you meant, you can find more info by doing a search for renting Web sites.

      Good luck!

        Well said Michelle

Since we are all different and have different qualities, it's important that one creates a service of what they will want to offer these offliners

        You Can:

Build a clean & smart website for them......... with an optin box showing up on the top right hand corner, benefits well spelt out to entice signing up

Set up an autoresponder service to capture leads for them, then create an email marketing campaign for your client

Create a blog and constantly updating it with new articles strategically using long tail keywords

Help them with their direct mail, twitching their mail to entice customers to their doors!

You can charge them a consulting fee say $775 followed by monthly management fee of say $200

        So easy

          smartsites,

I think if you can share what skills you are really strong in, we can be much more helpful. Me, I'm a 1) web/Blog designer and 2) SEO guy, so that's what I focus on.

If you don't like face to face marketing, this may not be for you. I like the inbound marketing approach where I build my own sites that get good rankings for my services and let customers find me. Search for "website design mycity" and "web design mycounty" and I own it. But that's just my preferred style.

Share your skills and what you are really good/successful at and we'll help!

          Mark
