What Would You Do If Both Aweber And Get Response Go Out Of Business?

I know I will probably get a lot of hate on this but I think the question should be asked. So many times on this forum I hear a lot of people saying don't be at the mercy of another platform such as Google or Facebook. Or the other saying "don't put your eggs in one basket." What if Aweber or GR pull the plug. What will you do next?

    If they did, I would find another option. But since they aren't right now, I will just keep focusing on issues that actually move me forward.

    Why would you get hate on this? It is a very straightforward and plausible question.

    The answer is, everyone would go to one of the many competitors that exist out there. Aweber and GetResponse are hardly the only games in town.

    Personally, I have recently begun using InfusionSoft and am pretty much hooked on it.

    Thanks to a global free market, new players would step in.

    What matters is DELIVERABILITY.

    That's why AWEBER is the best in the business. They get your email where it needs to go.

    If they go belly up, I'm sure someone will step into the gap.

    That's how MARKETS work.

    I switched to ArpReach last year, and I love it. Mainly because of the sending limitations they place on you, and because their inbox rate sucks compared to a dedicated server - Especially after you've sent a lot of clean emails and establish a good track record. You'll see your open rates steadily increase because you won't be held back by other marketers using the same server.

    The Aweber or GR pulling the plug scenario will only result in "eMail Marketers" simply finding another AR.

    This is because a large chunk of folks who want to make money online,
    are told that email marketing is the way to riches, and the money is in the list, etc...

    I can comfortably tell you that my company has thrived offline and online for over two decades, providing real products and services, all without playing the game of "building lists and finding stuff to promote to them".

    What a concept!

    So, even if your question was as dramatic as....

    "What would you do if email marketing became illegal".

    I'd still have no problem with that,

    but I assume there would be many "many" tears up in here....

    Good question.

    Obviously you would start to look for another autoresponder solution. But the key here is to always make backups of your list database. It's surprising to me how many people don't.

    I backup all of my aweber lists on a weekly basis so it wouldn't be a problem for me. I would simply switch to another email service provider (ESP).

    It's kind of a fallacy that aweber and getresponse are the only game in town - sure they do have a great service with a ton of bells and whistles but deliverability is based on a ton of factors - that change frequently - and if you know what they are you can get the same results.

    In any case there are many choices out there.

        Constantcontant would get my money instead of Aweber.

        There's a chance i would consider icontact, activecampaign or a few others but CC feels like a good runner up. And this is based on asking friends who use CC, having switched from GR and Aweber, what they think of the service.

        As long as you're not doing solo ads or spammy stuff (which you shoudn't be doing anyway), your deliverability should be on par with Aweber.

        Aaaand I don't like Getresponse for personal reasons. So i could give a toss if they went out of business. Ever since that ddos attack a while ago they just haven't been that good.

            If the inboxing is good that's all i need. Most of my emails are plain text anyway. I know with madmimi the html gets a little weird for the overall email layout, but I just need my subs to see the email and be able to react to simple call to actions (ie. my links).

            It's disappointing that my inboxing with GR was so poor because i actually enjoyed their email editor. I had a nice template saved that i used over and over, but my subs couldn't see my emails a lot of the time, so on i went over to Aweber.

            If you're wondering about the target market, it was personal development. I know that inboxing is often dependent on the niche/market, but I'm pretty sure i was safe with PD. Spam complaints were nonexistent, so I'm guessing the shared server i was on was just weak. And to think if i had used confirmed opt-in emails! The opt-in confirmation would have just landed in the junk folder lol

    While I use both of them, I also use other providers to spread my risk and am always trying out new ones to see if I can find some diamonds in the rough.

    They are both very good, but there are many alternatives out there that are almost as good, if not just as good or better.

    If they will not be available, I will be using icontact.com. It think it is a great autoresponder service of the same caliber as aweber if not far better. I am using aweber now and it is working well and great!

    I'm using AdSense as my main money source at the moment. I don't anticipate Google going out of business anytime soon (if ever, lolz), but if they did, then I would look at something similar to AdSense, or find a different revenue stream.

    Same with my e-mail auto-responder. I just signed up with AWeber fairly recently.

    There is always a solution, so switching to another option is not a problem. If this ever happened, not only there are already so many other options out there, but new marketing software and autoresponders are probably being built as we speak.
