Slicing Up A Website

I was curious to know if a fella was to slice up the content on an 8-10 page website and condense it into a "topic overview" article using pics, vids, etc to make it like a magazine layout, could that hurt the website by the content being duplicated off site? I know duplicate content is never a good thing, but I would like to know if it has a potential of effecting the site itself.

    If you're worried about duplicate content, maybe you can write customized descriptions of each article (a synopsis for example). I realize this is a lot more work for you though.

    Yeah, I was just wanting to lightly edit and downsize the content, and then spend more time on the media/graphics side of things. More of just thinking out loud, but it got me to wondering if the content would be considered original to the site, and trump any duplicates, or if each side that shares the content take a hit concerning SEO
