Any good, free or low cost support desks out there?

Hey all, I'm starting a new company in a niche outside of IM and don't want to spend any money on a help desk until the business becomes profitable. I've spent enough getting everything else going.

Can you recommend a decent help desk that's free or really low priced, 1 time cost?

Really all I need from it are:

1. Hosted on my server
2. Ability to import emails
3. Ability to add different departments
4. Ability to add more than 1 staff member

and that's it.

Thanks!

I think if you want to do business, you have to spend money. Without spending money, no one will be able to do business. In this case you can choose the cheapest one. You mentioned here, you are not willing to spend any money. You should change your idea. Thanks for your advance.

I knew this reply was coming from someone...

Would be nice if you could suggest a help desk :-)

I am one of the first ones to push the idea that you need to invest in your business if you are serious and really intend it to be successfully, but investing in a high powered help desk for a new of smaller project is very unlikely to make or break the deal.

The key isn't just to invest in your business. It is to invest in the right way to give your business the best chance of success. With few exceptions, having the best of the best help desk is just not going to make much difference.

Another vote for osTicket. I've used it on several sites in the past and highly recommend it.

If you have a WordPress site, I've heard good things about Awesome Support https://wordpress.org/plugins/awesome-support/ (not an affiliate link). I haven't used it personally, so usual caveats apply.
