Backlinking is a process if you do it the right way. The best practices would be posting you website to high quality sites, forums, social media sites, and niche relevant sites. I'm sure there are ways to do it quickly, but in most cases will raise a red flag with the Google search engines.

I usually spend time posting my links with relevant information to social media sites, YouTube, Forums, and article marketing sites. I have built over 100 backlinks in a couple of months and that's just doing minimal work. So if you are diligent you can really build up some strong backlinks over time if you have a plan.

    Hi solutionsinfinite

I will share you what I`m doing with each of my new websites for gaining high quality backlinks

Some of them are free and others are paid but they are very cheap

Write/outsource 10 unique articles targeted to keywords you use on your new website.

Submit these articles to popular article directories (Ezinearticles.com, ArticleCity, comArticleAlley.com)

Sign up for Onlywire.com and register for 20 of the recommended social services and do an Onlywire blast on one of your articles, every second day, for two weeks.

Register for popular Web 2.0 services like Hubpages.com, Weebly.com, Blogger.com, Xanga.com and post your content there with images (or related videos from Youtube)

    Submit your website to these free directories:Somuch.com, TXTlinks.com, FreePRwebdirectory.com, Linkcentre.com, TheSEOKing.com, ExactSeek.com, Freewebsitedirectory.com, Abigdir.com, Littlewebdirectory.com

    Best Regards

Sure Blog commenting is a nice way to get free back links to your website as well as building your online presence and making yourself as an expert on your field.

Sometimes I find some visitors landing on my website from the comment I have written since 1-2 years.

        Thanks

I just cant believe that you mentioned article marketing in today's era. I am surprised if that still works for you. Haven't Google banned those websites already?

Well, I'd recommend to go for Guest blogging activities. Approach blogs in your niche with a topic idea in mind and offer them that content for free. Also, ever thought of editorial links? It will help you boost rankings overnight. Such links are expensive but worth money.

    Hi

Tactic 1: Collecting and sharing content

There are a couple different ways in which you can collect and share content. The first way is one of the oldest: “link love” posts.
These posts aren’t as common today since most people share links through Twitter or Facebook. Basically, you take a roundup of the best articles you read during the week and share them in a post.

    Tactic 2: Getting business links
This is a little time consuming, but it will get high-quality links to your site that will generate great traffic and authority. You want to think about all the different ways you can get businesses or local sites to send you traffic. Here’s a short list:
Join the Better Business Bureau. They’ll link to you once you are a member.
Join the local Chamber of Commerce, which will likely link to you once you are a member.
Get your city and state governments to link to you by submitting your site to the relevant government sites.
Get your library to link to you.
Get business partners and non-competing businesses to link to you.
    Launch an affiliate program.

Tactic 3: Collecting testimonials or opinions for an article

Another way to build links back to an article on your site is to write a piece where you make a call for testimonials, stories and opinions.

Say you are writing an article on blogging tools that pros use. During your research, you’ll want to reach out to some influential bloggers and thought leaders and ask them for their recommendations.

    Tactic 4: Interviewing big bloggers
Like the tactic where you ask for their opinions or testimonials, requesting an interview with an influential blogger will also help you build links back to your site. Snagging that interview with a big blogger and then publishing it on your site will lead to high-quality links coming back to your site when the blogger mentions it and his or her audience starts sharing it.

Tactic 5: Redesign your site with a good CSS design

Do you have a beautiful design on your site? Does your website use CSS? If not, you can order a new CSS design for your site. If you have a beautifully CSS-designed site, you can then submit your site to galleries like Best Web Gallery, CSS Elite or CSS Mania. The benefit is obvious. If you get accepted to these galleries, you’ll get high-quality links back to your site.

Submission to these galleries is easy through the CSS Gallery List, which will submit to 100 galleries for $20. Or you can manually go to each gallery and submit your site for free.

You could do a kind of stealth backlink.

Spend time on related nich websites and add value. When you have good good interaction with some of the other regulars you could then add your blog link to your signature (assuming the forum supports post signatures). To make this appear genuine I would not be inclined to add your signature until you have been there a month or so and have added a good 25+ high value posts.

In addition to what everyone mentioned. Building quality content and networking will help you go this organically. People will link to you if you have good content and are getting the word out.

Step 1: Find your top competitor

Step 2: Use opensiteexplorer.org to find his/her most linked to content

Step 3: Find the sites linking to your competitor's top page and get their contact info

Step 4: Come up with SUPERIOR content

Step 5: Reach out to the linkers of your competitor and ask them to link to you too

Step 6: Find new high quality niche linkers who might be interested (normally these would involve list posts)
