Hey Everyone,

Just interested to know how much attention you give to alexa ranking. I noticed whenever I replace a regular website with a wordpress blog, it improves the ranking immensely.

Just curious to hear your views.

Thanks,
Dale

I agree, Alexa can be so, so far of. I only use it to gauge if a site might have traffic. If a site ranks in the millions, pretty good chance they don't get much or are not very popular.

Yes, I do agree. I site to do with a certain breed of bird might not have a very good alexa rankings, but is a popular site within it's niche.

I'd second what Rod Cortez said: zero.

Alexa ranking is based on data collected from browsers that downloaded and installed the Alexa toolbar. How can it be accurate?

Alexa is not as reliable as it was a few years ago.

You could try sites like Quantcast instead.

I use Alexa to type in my competitor's website so I can get their primary keywords that they are targeting. It is how I find all the mispellings they are targeting and where a majority of their traffic is coming from.
